rough starting... sometimes stall.... plus ABS
rough starting... sometimes stall.... plus ABS
my 01 max SE has been starting pretty rough about 50% of the time. it used to do it every now and again but seem to be happening more often these days. it only has 25,000 miles on it and I keep up with the oil changes (just about every 3,000 miles give or take 100 or so) when I start it, sometiems it will start to sputer out as soon as the engine starts, if I give it the gas it will usually catch itself and then be fine, other times it will sputer and I give it the gas but will still stall (not sure if I'm just not quick enough with it or what). any idea what might cause this? the only thing I had done to the car (about 3 months ago) was the ECM update for the P0420 code. also my ABs light came on about 2 weeks ago, breakign seems to be just fine but the light is still on, any idea what might cause this? thanks for the help.

As for the starting issue, check into the MAF.
As for the ABS light, possibly a wheel speed sensor or a module/controller issue? Needs to be put on the CONSULT, especially if there's not been a P code set -- take it to Autozone, have them scan for codes.

would the MAf be dead at 25,000 miles? and if it is? is that covered under warranty(the bumper to bumper expired because of the 3 years) my car is going into the shop tomarrow for regular service (by my regular mechanic) will his scanner be able to pick up an ABS code? or is this somethign nissan needs to look at (I sure hope not).
thanks

It can pick up an ABS code if there's one stored in the ECU.
Not all codes turn on the Service Engine Soon light, an ABS code might be one of them.
Yes, MAFs can go bad at 25k miles, do a search on google for "maxima blown maf" and see what turns up.
Many .orgers are on their 2nd or 3rd MAFs already!
