Will Lowering Reduce wheelhop?

Would say tokico struts and maxspeed springs reduce wheelhop? I believe stiffer springs should help a bit and also having a lower center of gravity.

I have a 6spd 02 and it seems like the damn wheel just likes to hop up and down because the spring is so soft.

BTW : I already have a useless front strut brace....

Thanks,

Mark

I would get mattblehm's lower tie bar (LTB)...this greatly reduced wheel hop for me, and that was BEFORE i put on Maxspeeds/Illuminas.....Also, tires play a part in wheel hop as well...but the LTB makes a big difference.

look at www.mattblehm.com under suspension part...you want the stage II.

Sorry just noticed you have the bar. Is it that much of a difference?

My wheelhop was greatly reduced with only the Maxspeeds. I kept the stock struts and the stock wheels and tires when I installed them.

Since then, I've gotten different rims and tires, but the Maxspeeds alone sure helped reduce the hop.

Changing the stock blowtenzzas to the faulkens has made my wheel hop go away.

all of the above....as you can see I now have LTB, FSTB, Maxspeeds/Illuminas, and falkens in the front....all of these combined things make it almost impossible to hop the wheels unless you're really trying...

pcante1...yes, the difference the LTB makes in the front is similar to the difference the RSB makes in the back.....

Anyone else notice that they had less wheel hop after installing mattblehm's LTB? I have been getting insane wheel hop, I have filled my mounts, got traction bars and am currently replacing the control arms w/ bushings and the tires. Most of the wheel hop should go away after the control arms and tires but if not maybe a LTB will help some.

irish, i was looking into getting the LTB, but being lowered im thinkin ill be bottomming out, or worse get it caught on something.

i have a freind with a lowered speck V with a lower tie bar, and he got it caught on a rock, tore the thing apart, so im thinking there is a possibility of lots of control arm damage and seriously messing up the geometry from such an incident.

would u have a pic of just how low it sits and view of ground clearence?

I'm assuming a more even drop will shift some weight foward and help on wheel hop. I can't figure out why the stock suspension is higher in the front

I read an article about the new VW GTI and the only difference between US and EURO models was the US model used taller front springs to meet US bumper height requirments so I assume that's the reason the maxima has that huge wheel gap.......Blame all the US auto laws...

Motor mounts and traction bars are the best mods to eliminate wheel hop.

Its not so much the lowering but the stiffer spring rates and dampening ability of the aftermarket shocks.

It will reduce wheel hop but you'll need other mods as well. Even with coilovers, all Energy suspension bushings and beefy tires, the car will have some wheel hop at peak torque (4000rpm) when I punch it in 1st gear.

I saw the exact same explanation somewhere too.

Stiffer springs, struts, tie bars, swaybars....look to fix the suspension geometry as a whole.

You know, isn't the reason why we get wheelhop because the tires grip and the engine cannot transfer the power to the ground?

If you lost wheelhop just by switching to "Faulken" brand tires, you know they gotta be made in china

as far as I remember, lowering the car doesnt really do much against wqheel hop, back when I was in the market to get rid of it motor mounts were the best things. now I'm guessing the ltb is also a good thing. From current personal experience lowering does not do it, maybe with stock tires, but if you upgrade to something sticky your gonna bounce without motor mounts. As for the ltb, I have not tried them...
