steady creak from rotor at light braking?
steady creak from rotor at light braking?
i recently(last week) took apart my calipers and braket and took out the pins to clean and re-grease everything because i was getting a creaking noise at a constant interval.
after i changed my pads, my rotors had been turned a month earlier, i still have the creaking and its coming from the front left rotor assembly.
it makes the noise under light braking and at a constant tempo(1 each rotation of the rotor it would seem)
the rotors arent warped to the point where im getting a pulsating.
is this an issue with my rotor or caliper?
thanks

It may have something to do with the brake shim that goes on the pad.
I know that with my Raybestos QS, they came with plastic shims.....I don't know why....don't ask. Well, I was getting a noise and took them all apart and finally realized that they shim was in the shape of a rainbow. That could be it.
Also, it could be something coming from the rear and you are thinking it is coming from the front.
I recently had to replace my rear pads and I thought the noise was coming from the front at first. Well, when I finally looked at the rears (I had never changed them......at 100k), the little pin that warns you to change the pads was making the noise against the rotor. Check that too. Being the year that you are, it might be about time for a rear pad change.

no not till tommarrow so i can go to my fathers house, i can smell the front right brake assembly burning after i park.
my apartment complex generally frowns upon working on your car in the parking lot unless unavoidable. *****ed about me replacing my radiator.
