I was running a Pioneer HU model# DEH-P835R fror about 4yrs. and I was pleased with it. I liked the 3D surround mode feature & the SLA adjustment. Each of the SLA levels were a big increase. Kinda like having three different levels of the loud button but without the added distortion at high volumes. Only down side was the low voltage RCA's & I had to have it serviced a couple times when it was about 2-1/2 years old. The CD insert had some problems. It was a b!tch trying to get it to accept a disc. I had to turn the power off, hold the CD in the slot & then turn the power back on & then it would accept the cd. Good thing I bought the additonal 4yr warrenty option or else I would have had to replace it alot earlier.

my last pioneer had the same problem after about 4 years of continous use and 2 owners. but if u just jammed the cd in it would accept and it worked fine other then that.

for whoever had the 1500. please upgrade to a better model as soon as possible. i have the 360 premier model. i had it in my gf's car. she doesn't like a lot of bass so i only had one sub in the back, not full powered either. it sounded good. perfect for her. i got my max so out come the hu into my car so she had to buy another. she got the 1500 and man what a difference. i still like pioneers but the sq went don't the toilet. it is such a difference. you would notice the difference immediatly. it pains me just to ride in her car.

I actually found the Alpine HU's I've ownded easier to use than the Pioneer I had purchased. Probably due to me having Alpine for so long though. It was a DEH-8600MP. It had nice sound output, and a good amount of tuning capabilities. It is a nice HU, just not what I was looking for so I returned it.

One thing that I wish that Alpine had stuck with is the BBE circuit that Pioneer uses. The Media Expander that Alpine uses is a wasted function in my view. I liked the way the Pioneer sounded better than my Alpine.

I like my pioneer. I find it alot easier to use than the alpine I had before. The only thing I don't like is that it can't control the motorized antenna, so I just ended up unplugging it since I don't ever listen to the radio.

The antenna was one of the reasons I sent the Pioneer back. I did not understand how a higher end model, at the time going for $500 dollars, did not have a dedicated power antenna wire. I thought it was a nuts to have to get a switch in case I wanted to listen to the radio.

My Eclipse HU also plays MP3's and WMA's, but I mainly listen to regular cd's. I like to use MP3's when I go on long trips, that way I do not have to change out the CD's until the next gas station if needed .

WoW bringing a thread back from the dead...

Pioneer makes good solid decks. Theyre also my second best selling HU aside from Eclipse. On Premier models the warranty is 2years, dunno what 'sucks' about that...

I guess I was the culprit in bringing this thing back. I thought that it was on the first page though. Either someone deleted their post or I was just day dreaming and kept going down the list .

I've had the 6500 and the 7600 in my previous rides. Pioneers have awesome functionality, features, power, and looks at a reasonable price. I would have put the 7600 in my Max.. but the Max deserves something double DIN in my opinion.
