Need a good box builder?

Im looking for someone to build me a box for a single 12" xxx. I want it to be a vented 2 cft or so box. I kind of want it similar to ShRapNeR's setup, but he has a 15" so I want my box to be a little smaller so I can mount the amps on the floor in front of the box.

you mean ported, its much better than vented, the vent is just a little hole where the port helps build up pressure in the box for more bass, check if ebay sells ported boxes but theyd prob be around 3.5 cubic foot for a 12

Ported and vented are EXACTLY the same thing. The technical term is 'bass reflex' enclosure. There are a few technical details about them here.

Your description of vented is just a poorly designed box.

As said before ported = vented. You don't want to be buying a box off of ebay IMO, just the price of shipping will go over the amount of money it cost to make the box not to mention how poorly built they are. If you can try asking around to find someone (a person not a store) local or you could do it yourself. Building a box is easy; its just time consuming. Try going to bcae1.com it'll help you A LOT. I went to my local Tweeter and they gave me a $220 estimate to build a ported box for 2 12" and I instantly became a DIY'er. I built it myself for about $25 in materials and about 6 hours worth of my time and 24 hrs to let it "dry".

I always thought "ported" was a bass reflex box with a round tube for a "port" and "vented" was also a bass reflex box but the "vent" was square(rectangular) and made out of wood instead of plastic or whatever. I've heard boxes with tuned "port(s)" and boxes with tuned "vent(s)" and I think the vented boxes sound a little smoother.

(But then again maybe I'm wrong)

A port is a port. They come in all shapes like square, rectange, round or oval. As long as you know the area of the port and it's shape is consistant for the entire length of the port, it will work. Technically, round ports should be best because they have the most port area and the least amount of material making up the port. That means that more air can flow without creating friction with the sides of the port. And yes, I'm probably getting into fluid dynamics and these details are not audible.
