newb here! tach needle going crazy

What causes this? I'm assuming its just some wire that is having a problem? anyway to easily fix it?

basically the tach needle will wildly move up and down when i'm at idle or while i'm driving. it doesn't occur all the time, but comes up enough to annoy me. or do you guys think its not worth the time and effort to fix?

Thanks,
Tony

Same exact thing happened to me a while back. Try cleaning your throttle body. If that does not work, there is a part that is after the throtlle body (has three plugs for sensors going into it, I can't remember the name of the part though). I had to replace that...the funky idling went away immediately.

Also, what kind of spark plugs are you using...I ran Bosch for about 4 months, then my car starting running like crap. Be sure you're using NGK

i actually have no idea... i think my mom skipped the 90k maitenance and the car is somewhat of a mess right now. i'm trying to clean it all up for her. we're going to do the 105k maitenance soon...do you think that would get rid of the problem?

That should fix quite a bit of the problems, along with any future problems. If you take a look at the FAQ, you can get a list of exactly what to replace. However, if it is still doing the erratic idling, take a look at the part I mentioned before. I believe it is the valve body, but I am not 100% sure.
