Front strut repl. recommendations?

I have noisy strut, and at 132k on a 95, I'm not too surprised.

Looking for recommended replacement, not OEM, but not a lowered setup either, something in between.

Are Tokico blues or kyb gr-2 a good choice with the stock springs?

I'm willing to give up some ride comfort for better handling performance.

As long as you're keeping the stock springs either of those will be fine. The KYBs will probably give a slightly firmer ride than the Tokicos.

gr-2's ride around 15% firmer than stock. so better handling and almost stock ride.

if you do that might as well get some lowering springs. you can get good lowering springs for 2 bills or less.

I've thought hard about putting on lowering springs, but have ruled it out for these reasons:
1) crap roads around here (chicago)
2) winter weather (the clearance helps with the alley gets plowed in)
3) don't want to spend much on car w/132k miles
4) rougher ride (see 1)
5) altered suspension geometry
