weird sound from brakes when at a standstill

when i'm at a dead stop, like at a red light or something... and i am applying the brakes.. they make a droning sort of sound when i go to release the brakes and reapply gas... almost as if the brakes are like, staying on the wheel after i release the pedal.. thats the best way i could think to describe it... i have an automatic w 108000, i got it w 98k and was told that they gave me new brakes before i got the car.. could they have done, or not done something when they did that brake job that would be causing my aforementioned problem... someone please let me know.

thanks
nick

It might be just that... the calipers are sticking. Get down there and check them out

had that same problem that was tormenting me for months to no extent, ended up being a frozen rear caliper that was causing the groaning. Replaced the caliper, no more noise.
