Question about Bose headunits

Are the Bose headunits interchangable between generations. I have a 92 SE w/ the Bose system and the tape deck is broken. Can I buy the CD/tape Bose headunit from say a 95 or 2000 and put it in my 92. I know that none of them are amplified so I thought that interchanging between generations might be possible.
