JDM Audio System Blueprints

I already have Alpine Type S in rears... now my fronts are blown and I am deciding on just putting the same speakers in the front as mids... or to get the 171A component set... but i dont think i need tweeters... mine are good...

then i will get the basslink, subtle, but yet bassy... cheap and compact... i have heard some good reviews on it as well...

but as for headunit... i was looking at the Alpine 9827 because i have heard good things from alpine, but cant really afford most of them and this one was in my price range...

but i like the flip down HUs from kenwood, but my neighbor had bad things to say about kenwood...

would you do the components or just the mids?

also, what would you say about the alpine HU... would you go kenwood over alpine? if so, which one?

thanks all...

IMHO I say install components. 2 ways are nice, but produce no where close to the beauty of a good set of components. Regarding your HU choices it would be better if you told us what your budget is so we can give you the best solution. From the 2 brands you mentioned I would have to say go with the Alpine. I've owned a few of those before & they never gave me any problems. I've only owned 1 Kenwood HU before & it worked nicely also.

well see, id like to stay under 250 for HU... components are gonna run me about 150 i know, and the speakers themselves would only be 70 thats why im stuck on deciding between the two...

i am just planning for the NEAR future, i get paid in two days and have a lot of overtime because of hurricane ivan... i am going to buy wheels first, but right after that, comes what i decide on in this thread...

i would definetely go with the components, well worth it. A lot of people i know love their alpine HU's but personally i dig the panasonic layout. Check out boston acoustic speakers, real quality ****.

Heres a link with thousands of audio equiptment items for sale. You might get lucky & find something in there. Also I noticed in the audio classifieds someone is selling a Alpine HU you might be able to swoop on it pretty cheap.

Also, you might want to contact Pearl96Max (Don) & see if he can help you out. I'm not sure what guide lines he has about selling product over the net. But it would be worth your while to ask him & find out. Shoot him a PM and see what he has to say. If he can't help you maybe he can point you in the right direction.

It's hard to decide between the 2 models. Like I mentioned before I prefer Alpine, the model you specificed in your post have alot of the needed features. Only thing I noticed it didn't have was bass engine pro. It only has the standard bass engine circuity. I'm not up to speed on the new Kenwoods, but it's quite possible the Kenwood may have better EQ functions. My heart is saying go with the Alpine, but the wise side in me say's do alittle more research to play it safe.
