Any problem with Uni-directional tire fitted in opposite direction?

I recently had a flat tire and the mechanic who fixed it installed the tire in the opposite direction to what is suggested on the uni-directional tire. Is there a problem with having the tire this way ?!? I do notice increase in road noise but not sure if it's because of this.

Thanks.

if it s a directional tire it needs to be mounted in that direction with the arrow pointing towards the front of the car.

The tire will not work as designed mounted that way. For instance, many tires have tread patterns that force water out from under the tire, if the tire is reversed the technology will not work as intended.

I wouldn't have left the shop with tires mounted incorrectly.

the primary reason for directional tires is that the tread is designed to evacuate water from the center of the tire and channel and push it to the outside away from the tire... with it mounted in the wrong direction you are doing just the opposite, channeling the water to the middle of the tire, this could cause your car to hydroplane less water than you would otherwise be able to drive normally in. it's dangerous if you get caught in the rain.

Dude, what's up with everyone being **** about grammar these days? I30tMikeD seems to be getting a lot of flak for no good reason.

I'm a grammar/diction/style/typography freak; I could pick all of you apart for typing you're instead of youre, but I don't. Why? Because it'd be an utter waste of time and because this is a MAXIMA forum! So lay off on the your/you’re distinction and other pointless things.

???

Oh, wait - spelling and proofreading weren't specifically included in the list. Sorry.

If you're trying to establish yourself as an authority, be sure that your presentation
supports your claim.

Mike - your reply is correct, but Nealoc's more detailed explanation is clearer as to why reverse rotation should be avoided.

Edited to add blank lines and smilies and for clarity.

Mike is a good friend of mine and we like giving eachother a hard time on the forum. I didn't get to him on this thread but if Bluebird hadn't i would have. Mike's got thick skin (and a thick head haha) and he can fight his own battles. If someone were really harassing him he could take care of it himself. He doesn't need big red letters to do it for him.

Haha, sorry, it wasn't directed at Bluebird or anyone in particular. Guess I shouldn't have made those big red letters so big. It was in some other threads that I saw people's nitpicking getting out of hand so I was dismayed to see it here again. Sorry for the confusion.

Norm, you're the one who should go back and check, not I. Take a close look at the two red characters above. One is a prime symbol ( ' ) and one is a true apostrophe ( ’ ). The point of what I wrote is that everyone who nitpicks about your being used in place of you’re spells it you're when it should be you’re. Get it? See how silly it all is? That's the point.

Enough OT, eh?

OK, I did, point taken (sort of), and you really had me thinking for a moment that I was going to have to get new reading glasses at least half a diopter stronger than my current 1.75's. The character difference is apparent in a pure-text reply/edit window (and in your subsequent post when the color was left to the default), while this was not so in the original red (they appear identical on my monitor, hence your intent was lost). Never mind that it was the wrong word issue that got this whole OT tangent going in the first place. I'll retract the spelling comment if you'll review (proof) the posted appearance of the red characters. Deal?

Maybe I really am going blind, but I can only find one ' character on my keyboard. Perhaps you can tell me where I can find that other one.

Some forums automatically convert keyboard characters to the proper typographical characters, but the Org doesn't. So if you type the ' or " key, you get single or double prime symbols (AKA typewriter-style quotation marks). Unless you have a website that automatically converts, it's not practical to type the proper characters because you have to enter a code. If you have Windows, hold down ALT while typing 0146 in sequence on the numeric keypad. That's the code for single quote. You can also select it from the Character Map.

Again, my point is not that we should all be typing perfectly, but the contrary. As long as the meaning is clear and ur not typign liekthis, IMO it's silly to bring up grammatical etc. issues.

Thanks. By virtue of having learned something new I guess that today is a good one already.

Agreed.

Something looks different, though.
