I'm hearing a new noise on my 146k '95. It sounds like "rrrUUUrrr rrrUUUrrr rrrUUUrrr" when I turn hard left or right. I think it's probably the power steering pump. I haven't noticed the noise before, though. Any ideas on what it is or why it's doing it?

 

Could be strut mounts...common failure in our cars...Parts are cheap...labour is expensive.

 

If it sounds like gears check your PS fliud level.

 

I should mention that it happens both while in motion and when stopped.

 

could be the axels too...

 

Pinpoint the source location of the sound, then post back

 

definately check the fluid.

 

Do the easy stuffs first. Change fluid and check power steering belt.

 

Clean your TB.....
