Are the smoked headlight covers too dark for bmw headlight to shine through?

Do you mean smoked covers such as the ones you can purchase at pepboys or smoked as in painting your headlights themselves with transparant paint?

It doesn't matter, if you smoke them either way, your headlights will be dim except with smoke covers, you can remove them at night when you actually need your headlights.

yes its too dark. There are 2 reasons people go with BMW lights. 1. to give the car a better beam pattern and 2. for looks. If you put tinted covers on it defeats the purpose of both of these things. You will not be able to see the BMW lights with them on and the light output will be much too dim. My advice is to not get them or if you want that look just get them and put them over your stock lights.
