Igniton timing?. ...... I believe we have variable ignition timing and at wot I think its supposed to be 28 degrees. . .theres no way to advance it on a 4th gen that I know of, JWT/TS say they do it when reprogramming ECU's. On 5th gens there is a way, not sure how its done though, its in the 5th gen FAQ's or stickies

yeah, i believe the correct phrasing should be "initial timing advance"....
Someone told me that you can change it with the consult II computer.... not sure if it will stay at that reading though...

There are some guys here in Dallas that run a program called nProbe on some Maximas (not 99s, of course) and other Nissans. They can change the 'initial' timing and it will keep that setting until you turn off the car...Iirc.

Advanced too much will cause knock/ping, retard timing too much and will run like it has a dead KS, slow, and crappy MPG.

well, the 5th gen guys set it from 14 to 17 without any problems which is just right because it's 3 degrees....

so basically there's no way to do it on a 4th gen....right?

IF you don't like advancing timing, why did you make a thread about editing our ECU's?
