need help on auto to m,anual swap :(

Okay. so all the parts are already in the car.. for some reason my fuel pump died
while the car was being worked on by the first mechanic, he did everything except for the transmount which needed to be cut off and replaced.

so my car is put together now, i replaced the guts of the fuel pump myself and gave it to my second mechanic who did the transmount.

Problem is that the car wont start. It has a auto tranny tcm, set to park, starter cranks and fuel presure builds up, but car doesnt start. Any thoughts??? Thanx .

It has been three months since i drove the car, i almost bought a 300zx planning to sell the max after its up And running just because im so sick of this, hopefully i can get through this and keep the max.....thanx again all for any input

p.s. I oposted the same in general, but realised that more people were on here...

Sounds like a lot of work and headaches with a high probability of bad reliability issues.

Shoulda just sold the auto car and bought a manual one!

Sounds like an ignition issue. Maybe the key chip needs to be re-programmed.
I don't know if you need a M/T ECU for this swap or not.

thanx man. I am thinking aout getting a tcm, but it takes time to get here. also the tranny i got was a 6-speed so im not sure if i should get a tcm from a 6-speed or a 5-speed since my car is a 2000.

I don't think you can get a 6-spd to work in the 2000 that easily. Getting a 5spd to work would probably be a breeze...but a 6spd? And if I were you, I'd get a TCM that came with the 02...that is if you can even get your car to properly run with this tranny. :\

I'd imagine you would. I know someone here did a 6spd conversion to his 5spd and I know that it was not an easy job -- lots of crap you have to tinker with. I highly suggest you find a 5spd engine instead.

well. he couldnt do the transmount because it needed to be cu off and a new one welded on and he didnt have the equipment. Since the fuel pump was bad we assumed it would run if it was replaced, but it did not....

Well, whatever the case, let us know on your progress. It'd be great to see you as the first 3.0 5th gen with a 6spd.

its weird how the car started up on a Mustang Walbro pump for me in NEUTRAL. You sure that when they welded the new mount on they didn't fry out the electronics ? check if your getting spark and fuel injector pulse width. Unplug the MAF and see if it will start without it also. Make sure the crank sensor on the bottom of the tranny didn't get unplugged somehow- which I know is there cause I was reading the signal off it via Consult II. I gave up on the project after waiting for the fuel pump for a long time. It fired up for me with a Walbro for a Stang.

i talked to the guy he says tht the spark plugs are firing, injectors are pulsating.
When i try to start it, it cranks and after a while there is a loud pop out of the exhaust. Also smoke comes out of the muffler when cranking, maybe cause it was sitting for a while...

Wild guess: Maybe something's not plugged in relating to the fuel sensor?
