It would be nice to hear some 1st hand experience on them, but I'm not sure if any active posters on here even have them yet, let alone along w/the EDFC.

I had the Tein HA with pillowballs, EDFC, and 1000 lb/in spring rates for my Prelude. Those things F'n rocked! The build quality is really second to none. They do tons of R&D on everything they build. I'm sure the Maxima full coilovers would be the same. But they are the SS which has lower spring rates. Probably in the 350-400 range if that. Still a great setup for the street.

the teins available for the maxima do not have pillow ***** mounts or a monotube design like the JIC's and D2's

My friend got a set in his RSX. Ride is actually much smoother than my spring/strut combo.

What do you mean there nice? Are the rough or smooth? Do you have any noises when you go over bumps or when you turn the steering wheel?

The EDFC will allow you to adjust the damping force without having to get out of the car.

TEIN Super Street Coilovers with EDFC Active (released 2013)

This thread has been dead since 2004; but it was the only TEIN Coilover thread I found for TEIN with EDFC. Since 2013 TEIN released a new EDFC Active, that controls simultaneously and instantly adjust your damping force according to G-force & Speed. (g-Force meter is integrated inside your control unit) and the speed can be read from four ECU with pulse or purchase a separate GPS unit.

I just wanted to share that after 12 years of ownership on my 2002 Maxima 6 speed I have fallen in love again with my car after going from stock suspension to these TEIN with EDFC active. The ride is so smooth and I like how I can program the EDFC for my cruising speeds and spirited driving.

I liked the system so much with just the G-force that I ordered the GPS unit to further maximize what I can get out of it.

Has anyone else in the last 16 months purchased this since its release for a Maxima, or any other car they own?

Would like to talk to others with this system.

I thought about getting the EDF but having to install it freaked me out and that's why I didn't get it. Although I still haven't put my new Tein Street Advance's on my car yet, so if it's easy to do, maybe I'll think about it.

No worries now. The system is simple because everything is wireless, before the old EDFC you had wires going back and forward, you only need to install at the top of your coilovers the servos with the power source and being wireless there is no need to trace wires from each corner of the car back to the EDFC controller.

Installation is now simple.

how much do they cost do they ride harsh over the bumps? are they good or bad for daily driving or do they have a nice balance between stiff performance and soft for daily driving (a good compromise?)

Ill be the guinea pig. I have them right now in my garage...they are being put on tommorow. Going from 100k old pep boys shocks to Tein coilovers should be interesting.

Mine are called Street Advance...not sure if they are called SS anymore.

Use it during winter with rain, ice, melting snow everywhere! If your electric system doesn't fry I'm interested

$895 + 395 coilovers SS + EDFC Active. That is the beauty, it is programmable, I already have a soft setting program; it feels softer than stock over rough roads ( very comfortable), I then program any lateral G's over .15 to stiffen up to half setting and there is no leaning over the turns as it feels with stock.

The system has many settings already preprogrammed. You find your liking or program your own to your needs.... I feel like I have a totally different car that rides better than ever in my 12 years of ownership. Hope that answers your concern

It is worth it. I drove the street advance coilovers by themselves for a week at a medium to hard setting and the it was a blast on good roads but harsh on bad ones. After I got my EDFC active it is a big difference because you can switch back and forth from comfort, to sport and custom.

I'm picking up my GPS on saturday and will even expande My custom set up to include speed instead of only "G's". The G's only account for lateral G's and acceleration and braking G's which feels great but I'm looking forward to the additional capabilities.

I will post on Saturday more information.

What do you recommend for good estimated all around setting? I'm thinking 3/4 firm?

Without the controller I recommend the front a little softer, at 16 level no lower than 6. At 32 level no lower tan 16 and at 64 no lower than 31 for front. Rear works great at 9/16 or stiffer.
See my garage for some pics of the systems box

I literally had mine put in today. The car is two inches or so lower in front and 1 inch in back. The car has almost no body roll now around corners....Pretty awesome. I did notice a bit more engine vibration when going wide open throttle....I assume it's because the chassis is more rigid.

Do you guys have a better way of installing coils in our cars? I got them installed but it was SUCH a pita. Unscrewing the nut through the tiny crack. I couldn't get that thing off.

I assume you're talking about the rears, unless you remove the entire black "shield" piece from the trunk, the easiest way is to have the right socket extensions handy. And a magnet in case you drop the nut.

The Tein SS are one of the best coils you can get for this chassis because they reuse the stock rubber mounts, so there is no metal on metal contact like other preassembled coils. Not saying those are no good, but it reduces the likelihood of squeaks and rattles, and really does improve ride quality a little. Tein can be a little overpriced, and overall damper quality is decent for most street purposes. IMO, it were the best suspension set up I had on the Maxima, because of how weak the subframe was, everything else was harsh and rattle city. I can't imagine how much better they would have been if I had installed my subframe connectors.

I believe it! i still regert not going with TEIN SS! and SFC sound like the almighty fix on our cars. I am buying these removable side lower bars that are the closest things to subframe connectors with out the permanent welding. I can't wait to see how they feel.

Weren't you one of the inquiring parties for my SFCs way back when I sold them?

So you're getting some sort of tie bars put on? Any bit of subframe reinforcement helps the A33.

Yes, this is the updated price since the new street advance coilovers were released in 2013 with the new EDFC Active.

So far, the GPS UNIT added more parameters and somewhat got a little overwhelming the first day. After reading a bit more of the additional features with the GPS unit I'm still playing with it to meet my taste. It was very easy to adjust on G Arrange; prior to acquiring the GPS unit. Now with speed arrange and G Arrange I feel the car change its demeanor way too active for my taste.

I have settled for G Linear and Speed Linear for a progressive change of the suspension attitude. A few more drives and playing around I should finally reach a good setup for the street.
In a few month I will try to get to a track event or an Auto Cross event to then play with the EDFC further.
