TV screen in passenger side visor....Legal or no?

Is it legal if the visor was down and the TV was turned on with the passengers watching while the car is in motion? I mean, I guess the driver can't really see it right? Any info or stories would be great, thanks

i would imagine that it's not illegal. minivans have the in-car DVD players that you can play when it's in motion.

They determine if it is in front of the drivers headrest, so yes, it is illegal for it to be viewed while the vehicle is in motion. Therefore it is illegal to watch it while driving, but not illegal to have. It must show that there is a connection to the parking brake to be deemed "legal".

i always thought this was a national law about no video can be in view of the driver, but a while back there was a news report of a guy in alaska crossing the double yellow and striking a car head on, and the police report said he had a dvd player and had defeated the parking brake feature. but later in court, it was said that apparently alaska doesnt have any law on the books that states you cant have that...so maybe its different everywhere, or was, but for the most part, you will probably get stopped by a cop just because it would be considered "obstruction of view" or something.

its considered an avoidable distraction and it will and has killed. not saying dont do it, i have one in-dash and i use it all the time when i drive, just be smart and watch it yourself. for the passengers its great entertainment though. just do it and see how it is. when i got pulled over for mine, i simply said it was navigation and i popped my navigation dvd in. no problems there.
