I got a new 92 SE 5-spd. Needs New Motor
I just bought a 92 SE with a manual tranny for a few hundred bucks. The timing chain on the motor broke so the motor is shot. I need to get a new motor so I figured I would go with a JDM.
Now my question is, what should I be doing to the motor when I have it out of the car. Both as far as what needs to be swaped as well as preventive maintanance?
I read that I need to swap the temp sensor and the intake and I figured I would change the manifold bolts. What else should I be doing?

Yeah, Keelan did a super job with the write up and pay attention to the stuff Jeff added in there. Read the sticky thoroughly.
Jeff did my engine swap and it is fantastic. I do have a very slight VTC clacking on cold starts, but otherwise I am very happy. Nothing he could have done about that, unless I wanted to pay him more to put in new VTCs...
You should do a lot of extra stuff to ensure longevity and less hassles down the road. I would highly recommend the exhaust studs, a new water pump and a new knock sensor. It will cost you several hundred more, but those are the big things that are much easier to do with the engine out of the car. Especially the studs. Since you have a 5-speed and you are almost certain to get an AT engine, swap the VI and you can do the knock sensor.
You also have to source an engine. I got mine from www.foreignenginesinc.com, but it was delivered locally for free. I don't know what they want for long distance delivery. Also, the first engine they sent looked like crap, so Jeff complained and they sent another one.

The original poster edited his post and changed "belt" to "chain" after Maximan190 corrected him. Why don't you pay attention?
