Hi, Everyone!

My girlfriend will be taking my Maxima for a month (I'm biting my fingers about it already! ) in July, going across many states to visit her brother. The last time we went in late December last year, the front of the hood ended up with a tiny paint chip, and the car was just less than two months old!

Anyway, for this trip, I want to get a two-piece front end cover / bra for the car, and was wondering which one you all recommend. The Nissan one has an MSRP of over $100.00 and on the net I can find various makes between $75.00 to $95.00.

Do any of you have something to recommend? How about where to buy from?

Thanks!

I paid about $70 at the dealership for the bra. You might negoiate the price down. $100 is steep. It was impossible to put on the first time by myself and I needed some help to strech it over the front end. After that it was much easier to take off and put back on.
The only time my wife drove the car some debris fell from a truck and scratched the front fog light area very badly. The car less than a month old at the time. She refuses to drive it now.

You might want to look at the 3M clear mask. Most people seem to like them.

Punkdork, you beat me to it. I just got mine put on last Saturday and so far so good. You can't even tell that it's on there and there is no maintenance. Make sure you get it professionally installed though. It took my installer all day so it was worth my $350 IMO.

Here's a closeup pic of the Hood Tape. The right side has tape applied. It might be hard to see because my Max is white but hopefully it'll turn out. Good luck.

you might try webcovers.com,they have different brands in
different quality and price ranges. i have the one from
nissan,my wife got it for me at christmas and i think she
paid around $89 for it. if i was getting it i would shop around a bit. the one from nissan is ok,it was hard to put on the first time and one of my clips is starting to come
unsewn. i do like the look and from what i am seeing it is
helping out on the chips in the paint. just remember that you are supposed to take it off when it rains or it will cause your paint to cloud.

good luck!

colgan custom

I got a really nice 2-piece nose mask from a company called Colgan Custom(800-447-2727) for about $100. The fit is really good and it is very easy to install and remove. It uses pre-bent clips and heavy duty elastic bands instead of drilling holes and installing snaps or whatever. It is also guaranteed for 5 years.

I got mine for free, I forced the dealer to give it to me when I bought the car....anyways I would use Nissan bra for sure because some after market bra doesnt fit tat well even though it is cheap. Clear bra is way beyond my budget. but putting on a bra will also damage ur paint slowly....after a while, u will see two-tone on ur car and make sure that u take it off everytime u wash the car. and wax the hood and front bumper before u put it back on....

the best way to avoid paint chip is to follow a 3 second rule if u r traveling at 30 mph.....but only in some country side, not in Bay area, LA.....

I'm just going to put the bra on for long trips. Once the car gets to where it needs to be, then the bra comes off (hey, get your mind out of the gutter! LOL ). I also don't intend on leaving it on during any kind of wet weather or wash, so I don't think my paint will be affected too much by using it occasionally.

The clear bra stuff is out of my budget too, so I'll need to pass on it for now.

Thanks.
