I would say to take off the manifold and put one of those extendable magnets into the opening where the valve is to try to catch it....if its inside the cylinder, take out the spark plug and put the magnet in there and fiddle around....you might get lucky

Did you use loctite? I am definitely getting those screws welded before I put my MEVI in. I can wait a little longer since it has been sitting around since like march or april still not installed (only in my possession for a few weeks)....

The real question everyone should be asking, is how do the Maxima's that come stock with the VI not have this happen to them? How does Nissan keep them from falling out?

They come in 30 peices from the factory and whoever buys them puts them together. your suppose to use Locktight Blue on the screws for the butterfly valves.
Its all up to the owner

Wow...that really sucks. Good luck.

By any chance you've never taken apart the butterflies have you? As said above too...try getting the telescoping magnet in there, maybe the screw hasn't done much damage?

Being FIed would make NO difference in a screw coming off...Yes there is more air rushing in, but the screws come loose from vibrations of the engine..
Im really worried now

Yeah, me too. I red Loctited the heck out of those screws after ejj had to replace his engine, but I think I'm going to pull the cover and check them tonight.

Welding is a bit extreme, but I'm thinking about getting out the propane torch and seeing if I can wick some silver brazing rod around the screws.
