They're not going to be as good as the ones from Joshua Tree, www.woodtrim.com Simply based on the costs of the kits, and knowing how much it costs to make a nice kit.

I work with the JT guys, and I know their costs on their kits. And their manufacturing cost is about the same as what these guys retail kits for. And for what it's worth, most of the really nice laser shops are in FL. Superior Dash, Quality Laser, Daytona Dash, B&I, etc. These are the guys that supply dealerships and high end shops with their dash kits. Most of the eBay guys are in New York.

This is one of those instances where you really do get what you pay for.

Ah, I love these NYC dash guys. Remember the other post where I showed that they are using pictures of my product without authorization? Well I contacted the company, usually they simply take the pictures down. Here is what I got from them

"Dear Sir,
>
> We have reviewed your email regarding the pictures on our website. New
> York City Dashes Inc. receives several photos of dash kits everyday from
> clients. While we cannot guarantee authenticity of these images being of our
> kits, we have no reason to doubt our clients or believe they would email us
> random photos of dash kits.
> Due to this fact, until you are able to furnish us with some sort of proof
> that you own these images in question (a copy of your copyrights would
> suffice), we will not be removing them from our website."

Very nice business practices. One of the pictures they stole is of MY OWN CAR! There is no way a customer emailed them that photo, it's pixel for pixel what used to be up on our company website. And if they're stealing my pictures, how many pictures on their website are actually of product they make?

So I would definitely recommend that no one buy an aluminum dash kit from this company considering that not one picture on their website shows an actual real aluminum kit other than the stolen pictures of mine. If you want a quality dash kit, I'd really, really suggest you go with www.woodtrim.com or any other reputable company.

These are the same guys that copied our door inserts years ago, so I'm not really surprised they're stooping to this.

Coincidentally, I was just having a conversation with the owner of Joshua Tree about guys like this, they're so unethical it's amazing.

Response from NYC Dashes Inc.

Hello Shadow,

I am not here to participate in any sort of flaming war. I am simply here to respond to your comments regarding New York City Dashes Inc.

I would like to start with responding to your comments about the quality of our products.

“They're not going to be as good as the ones from Joshua Tree, www.woodtrim.com Simply based on the costs of the kits, and knowing how much it costs to make a nice kit.”

For one, New York City Dashes Inc. and its partners, manufactures every dash trim kit we sell. As well every dash kit is covered by a 30 day money back guarantee. This means if you are not completely 100% satisfied with your kit, we will take it back! Every kit is also covered by a lifetime warranty. Also if you look above a few posts there is a post from a person whom has also bought a kit from us and from his post seems very pleased with it.

Our kits are covered in a poly-urethane UV protective coating, the same as used by vehicle manufacturers for their exterior emblems (ex: Ford). We do not use epoxy on our kits. This ensures the kit will never fade, crack, or turn yellow as all epoxy kits eventually do. Using poly-urethane also makes our kits extremely flexible which again is not the case with an epoxy kit. Epoxy is not very flexible and normally requires a hair dryer or heating gun for kit installation.

Since you have felt the need to drag woodtrim.com into this conversation, I will point out that their kits are made from epoxy! This is stated on their website at http://www.woodtrim.com/info_home.cfm

I would also like to point out that kits for models 1995 and older from woodtrim.com are non refundable. We provide the same warranty for all our kits no matter what the year is.

Also since we are on the topic of woodtrim.com, I would also like to point out that on several occasions Joshua Tree has requested product samples from New York City Dashes Inc. as well, the Joshua Tree owner has approached New York City Dashes Inc. and our partners about purchasing our kits wholesale. Meaning they would resell our kits! If woodtrim.com was manufacturing their kits, why would they want they want to have a dealer account with us as well as request catalogs, samples and dealer pricing information.

Now I would like to address your complaints about the photos on out website. We receive several pictures weekly of dash kits from our clients. As stated in the email you have posted above, we cannot guarantee that the pictures are of kits installed by our clients but we also have no reason to doubt a client that is sending us pictures. The images posted are not even very good quality and due to that do not represent the product very well but they are posted because our clients like seeing the pics up there and we like pleasing our clients. So saying we would go out and “steal it? makes no sense and is also a slanderous remark to make.

Now I would like to address your comments about not having images of aluminum kits on our website. Well we are currently working on redoing our gallery as we have thousands of pictures to put online. But in order to give people an aluminum kit installed to look at now you can view the links below.

Finally in response to your claim that we copied door inserts from you. I would just like to say I doubt it. Every design we have for a dash kit was designed by our staff. Our designers working in Canada and the US are highly educated engineering professionals that do not have any reason to copy someone elses work. As well the woodtrim.com door panels say Maxima on them, ours do not.

New York City Dashes Inc. is an international company with offices located in Canada and USA. We are committed to bringing clients top quality products at the best prices possible. Due to the fact we are a large company with many repeat clients and thousands of shoppers monthly, NYC Dashes is able to offer lower than normal market pricing!

All of our kits are made with the highest quality materials including real woods, aluminums and carbon fibers. I can also proudly state that New York City Dashes Inc. has never had a claim for our lifetime warranty, further proving the quality of our products.

In closing, we at New York City Dashes Inc. strongly suggest that all potential clients research the products they are going to buy as much as they can before making a final purchase. Speak with past clients of the companies, speak with the staff of the companies, and to be extra sure you are getting a material and color you want, ask for a sample. New York City Dashes Inc. offers samples free of charge and with free shipping. We strongly believe that an online chatroom is not a fair place to judge any company period. There is no guarantee who is posting what on a forum or chatroom or for what reasons.

We will not be responding any further to this topic on this forum. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact New York City Dashes Inc. toll free 1-866-692-8746 Monday thru Friday 9am-6pm EST.

Thank You

See the thing is, it's obviously not your product. It's the same thing when our customers send us pictures of kits installed in their cars all the time. But we know the difference between what we send out and what another company makes. Those same 3 pictures I found on your website are the same ones I've seen several other dash kit companies in NY and TX using and passing off as their own. The other companies all immediately stopped using the pictures, you're the only one who chooses to keep using them.

And I do have a question about the real aluminum kit pictured. If it's real metal, then why does the picture show a black plastic backing? That's the same stuff that everyone passes off as "real" these days. It's a thin veneer of "metal" over plastic. It's no different than synthetic carbon fiber or wood kits. Some companies claim that is real metal, others don't make that claim. I'll admit, it's close to real metal, but there is a difference. Compare real aluminum to what you claim is real side by side and the difference is apparent.

There are currently only 2 companies that offer actual aluminum kits that are 100% aluminum. My company, and Daytona dash which outsources their real metal kits to Canada.

When I first clicked on this thread, the last thing on my mind was starting a flame war. I was just interested to see who was offering this dash kit group buy. Only after I saw the claims of real metal posted but the synthetic aluminum pics and then visiting your website did I notice our pictures on there. I emailed your company first before I posted anything derogatory. Your response is what lead to my post. You are to this date the first and only company who did not remove our pictures upon request, and that says a lot.

I'm only such a picture **** because every single day, we get phone calls asking why our aluminum kits are priced higher than other compnaies aluminum kits. They see our pictures being used on other websites to sell synthetic kits and then assume that the product is the same when there are vast differences.
