Idle is a little high ???

When I had my intake manifold powder baked, they took apart the throttle body. They put it back together but it seemed like the spring action wasnt as tight and a little lose. At first the car idled at like 2000 rpms and would stick at what ever I reved it up to....so i lubed it up a bit and tried adjusting the t.p.sensor and the best results ive been able to get is around 1500 - 1700 when it first starts and 1100 - 1200 after it warms up. If I remember right isnt 800 - 900 about right? Any suggestions or ideas on how to fix this?

you have a ve or vg? auto or manual? my ve auto idles up to 1500rpms at warm up for 10 secs then it drops to 1200rpms until it is warm, then it seems to run at 850rpm while its in neutral....I was wondering if anyone can help with his problem, could maybe tell me how i can adjust my idle, looked in the book for idle adjusting screw, but can never find it...was thinking auto dont have it.

It is probably the t.p. sensor, use an ohm meter to read the resistance at idle it should be near 10k ohms, if not calibrate it to give 10k ohms at idle (engine warm). Don’t forget to warm up the car first since resistance is affected by temperature (that’s way the RPM’s go up when it is cold).

I have a VE auto converted to 5 speed. black92Seauto, here is a pic that shows you where the 2 screws are to adjust your t.p.s. But to be honest, yours sounds about right and I wouldnt touch it.

Mine idles at about 975rpms when warm. What do you do to the screws to adjust the speed?

loosen, then move t.p.s If you notice there are slots on each side of the sensor which allow you to position the sensor at different angles. p.s. i believe there is another screw on the otherside of the throttle body that allows you to some adjustment as well.
