how difficult is it to have the tranny swapped in a gxe from auto to manual trannny is starting to go seeing if a swap is an economical thing to do at this point

it's not that hard to do the swap and if you shop around enough you can do it yourself for under $500

i would have absolutely no idea of how to approach this myself i am not that mechanically inclined quite yet i have changed transmission but this was on an old school 1968 blazer that was like a linkage and a couple of lines anybody around the minneapolis area that would know how to do it that would give me a hand willing to drive a distance

I may be able to help you get the ball rolling, Im kinda interested in doing this myself, along with a VG30ET, I think thats the right engine code. Im new to maximas. The mechanical principle is still the same though. Once you get everthing together I can come over and guide ya a lil bit if you need a hand probably.

I know a way to do it for free. Sell your car for whatever price then buy a 5speed max for that price and you dont even have to get your hands dirty.

its pretty simple. i did mine myself for $240 with all the parts and this was my first time doin' this to my car. give it a shot its not that hard once u have the old tranny out and install the new 5-speed parts.

took me a week to do the whole thing cuz i had to go to work in between but it actually took me 2 days that same week to take out the old A/T and install the M/T with the help of my dad. now it took me an hour to take out the A/T and about 45 min. to take out the shifter and other A/T components. now the fun started when i had to make the holes for the clutch pedal and master cylinder and then install the shifter and linkage and also i had to put in the lines, mounts and brackets, flywheel, etc... but i did that on the 2nd day of the process. the only rewiring is just the Safety/Neutral switch or something like that i forget but right now im tryin' to see if an org member can help me out on other rewiring like to make my reverse lights turn and make my cruise control work again. -shock211- u should now who im talkin' about.
