A GD is not really necessary, you can just order from http://www.importfan.com/index.asp?P...odID=5739&HS=1

The price is: $299.25

I was the one who did $400 shipped last time. If there are enough people seriously interested, I may be able to do it again.

If I'm not mistaken those local to Irvine, CA can just pick it up and in that case the actual price would be $299.25

I emailed them with details (importfan), but they dont open until monday so... Ill get back to you all with what they say. If MaxMoJo can use his connections that would be great too, because this would be the first group deal I'd ever setup.

10 hoods is usually my minimum. If there were 5, I can try but can not guarantee it will happen.

I am interested in getting a carbon fibre hood. I like the one that importfan.com is selling. That looks to be a good quality hood. Count me in if the price is right!!!

make sure you get the real VIS deal, I am on my 2nd hood now, and the 1st hood ( through Custommaxima.com group deal long time ago) all broke to pieces- it was fiberglass with just a thin sheet of CF with lots of laquer over it. Hood shook on the highway, and I would never dare to drive with it on the car without hood pins holding it. At 100MPH the hood would bow like 1" in middle of the hood- UP. It was pretty scary but I got used to it. I now got a VIS OEM style hood, awesome hood, trully nice and very sturdy. I don't even have hood pins no more and it holds up great. No vibrations or anything. The latch is molded in like on the stock hood. Post some pics of the hoods you are getting on the GD here, I will let ya know it its the same cheap crap CustomMaxima sold me 2 years ago.

I'd be interested for a 5th gen ( 2k1 ) but only for top quality product, like BlackBirdVQ mentioned a cheap CF hood can be scary at higher speed and I dont want that on my car.

Cheers

Hey guys I can get you a pretty decent deal with VIS hoods directly through them since I have a friend that works over there. I ran a GB almost a year ago for Nissans which included all makes and models so I"ll try to find the thread (since I don't have access to SEARCH).

The price wasn't as cheap as Importfan's, but then again I think the hood quality was alot better. The hoods would be Grade A Carbon Fiber with rolled edges, fiberglass skeleton backing, OEM latch, and 5 coats of clear coat.

I'll try to find the prices from the last GB. I think the OEM hoods were roughly @ $320ish. Shipping is about $135 which is still less than importfan's $185.

If anyone can search for my old thread please post a link to it since I need that for reference.

I FOUND IT!!

Here's the link in case you want to read up for any info:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....9&page=4&pp=30

It pretty much covers only the 5th Gens and the prices are from a year ago so I can call and try to wittle it down a bit.

00-03 Maxima
OEM ~ $330
Invader ~ $395

I am running a GB for the new 04 Sentra hoods over on B15sentra.net and I know a couple other makes have jumped in so I can always add someone if they are seriously interested.

Like I said in the previous post I can get the 5th Gen hoods. I'll have to ask VIS if they have the 4th Gen hoods or not.

I talked to VIS and they said that they DO have a hood for the 4th Gen. If possible they would like someone local to So.Cal to try it and test fit it first before they post it on their website.

They used to make them before for the 95-99 years, but their mold got damaged and they had to make a new one. So basically I can now do a GB for VIS OEM hoods for the 4th Gen (95-99) and OEM and Invader for the 5th Gen (00-03). Prices would be $325 for the OEM style and I'll have to ask for the Invader pricing.

Also, anyone local to So. Cal who owns a 95-99 Maxi and wants an OEM hood let me know. VIS wants me to get someone to test fit it. For doing so they will knock an extra $25 off so you would basically get the hood for $300.

I'll wait to see if anyone posts further interest before pursuing this any further.

That would be $325 plus shipping. Shipping usually runs about $135 if you aren't within throwing distance of VIS (East Coast). West coast shipping is roughly $120. Southern Cali residents are always welcome to pick up (but you get nailed with sales tax).

I don't think a carbon fiber hood $325 shipped would be very well built. Most hoods for that price range will most likely have cut edges instead of rolled. These are pretty well made (if they are anything like the one on my car).
