Anyone there who has factory installed alarms on maximas which act as passive, such as when lock car it doesnt make noises, just locks all doors and blinks light 2 times.
My question is how to modify it so everytime i lock or unlock car the alarm should make a beeping noises? Also how to modify alarm so everytime i lock car it should check if all windows are open, if yes then lift them up!
Last one, is how to lift up windows? Stupid remote can lower windows but not lift it back!!!!!!!!!!!

I would appreciate for dirrections!

Thanks!

Heres something I have been wondering about my stock alarm on my 1997 GXE. What do you have to do to set this thing off? Pulling the handles or messing with the wheels or any other part of the car never sets it off. The only time mine has ever gone off is when It was parked at my house and I locked it then was going to get something out of it and unlocked it with the remote by pressing unlock once, then I decided not to get that something out of the car and went back in. About 20 minutes later my brother opened the door to my car to get something he had left in there earlier and the alram went off. This is the only time this has gone off. Is there any other way to set it off? Thanks

well mine only sets off if you lock it and someone unlocks it from inside without the remote. Thats all that I know of that sets it off. It turns off after about 10 minutes after its tripped.

The stock alarm sucks.

You can't raise the windows after you rolled them down.

The alarm has only six checks I think. Hood, four doors, and trunk.

That means that if I arm the alarm, the only way it would sound is if the hood, doors or trunk were opened. That means a theif could just break any window, climb in, steal your stuff and then just climb back out, all without setting off the alarm.

At least, that's how it is on my 95 GXE.

yes that's true

but how suspicious is someone climbing into a car dukes of hazzard style? Not to mention the glass shardes imbedded in their butt. I'd gladly let them take one in the as* for my stuff. At least next time, they'd think twice before doing it.

It's an OK alarm

It does work. If you have the windows rolled down, lock the car, then unlock a door by reaching your hand inside the window and flipping the lock ****, the alarm goes off.

Personally, I don't like having a beep, so I'm fine with this. Why should I draw attention to every would-be thief basically saying "Hey everybody, I'm leaving my car!!" The flashing lights are your signal to know that the alarm has armed. I think it's great.

But yes, the window thing is a bit of a pain. Why not have a toggle on holding the unlock button, so that it can roll the windows back up? I guess you have to look at why you're doing it. The whole point of rolling down the windows is to release the heat that has built up on a sunny day. You're going to get into the car after having rolled them down. So, a control to roll them up isn't that important. The only time I could see doing it is if you've left something in the car and just want to reach in, get it, then remotely roll the windows back up. How often do you do that?

The Alarm?

Technically it isn't really an Alarm, or if it is, it is a sorry attempt at it. It is an "Anti Theft Device".

Anyway, it didn't work well for me... amateurs broke into my car through the passenger side window about two months ago. They tried to pry the stereo out with a screw driver (100 dollar Sony CD Player) and just destroyed because it is bolted to the console chassis. I have since replaced it with an Alpine 7863 so I guess it was a good excuse to upgrade... they also stole all of my CDs and ruined the bezel that goes around the stereo. I have yet to order one, but I am getting to it.

The reason I call them amateurs? They couldn't get the stereo out, they left my Oakleys in the visor, 800 in software in the backseat, plus 500 in books (All MCSE and CCNA related), and they stole my phone charger!! Who steals a phone charger?? I mean come on!!??

Let me tell you why the factory alarm sucks!!!

I have a 96 SE 5speed, and one morning I go to my car (parked in front of my house) and the front windows are all the way down, but the doors were locked. I was so tired the night before I passed out on the couch with the keys in my pocket. I believe that with the key in my pocket the unlock button was pressed and held down till the windows went all the way down. I was terrified when I saw my car with the windows all the way down, I live in Brooklyn NY and was surprised to see no one even touched my car. Good thing it didn't rain either. Since then I make it a habit to leave my car keys in my jacket or shirt pocket.

Could you imagine waking up to your recently purchased Max only to find it no longer has a radio, or possibly a vandalized interior (my leather!!!!) I dont think thieves are too fond of 5 speed cars, shoot there the fastest models manufacturers offer all the better to get away faster. I'm just glad I still have my car. Let my experience be a lesson to all.

I've never had the windows go down for me. But on several occasions, I have been in my house bending down work with something near the floor when "Beep! Beep! Beep!" - I inadvertently set off the panic button because the car keys were in my pocket. Funny, eh? Well, not to the neighbors at 1:30am in the morning!

I leave my keys on the table when I'm home.
