Hey guys,

I got the Cattman Cal emissions Y-pipe. Is it supposed to come w/some special brackets to keep it from knocking against the bottom of the car? Mine vibrates and knocks and makes a terrible sound whenever I hit a bump or even when changing gears! Am I missing a part? Where can I get a bracket to stop the knocking and vibrating?

I had the same problem when I first installed mine. On the test drive, it would clang on bumps or on acceleration (gears). In the middle of car (underneath) is a black bracket that spans the center of the center of the car. Not sure of its purpose but looks structural. When the pipe moves, from bumps or acceleration, it will strike this black bracket. Look for scuff marks on the pipe. I simply removed the bracket, placed some washers underneath (about 1/4") to lower the bracket and provide clearance for the moving y-pipe. Works like a charm.

6 months later...no complications whatsoever.

Yeah I also installed the Cali spec Cattmans' y-pipe and also got a loud knocking underneath the car. This is caused by the Y-pipe allowing the exhaust to move more than the stock y-pipe because of the flex on the y-pipe. I simply removed the bracket behind the resonator from the car. Now the noise is gone.

Thank you guys for responding...At first I thought my mechanic was being lazy. I knew this problem had a simple fix. Thanx for the advice. I'll try it this weekend.
