Hood doesnt stay up

The 2 hydrolics that hold up the hood dont hold up my hood anymore, it keeps closing (annoying). Is there a way to tighten them up so they dont slide down so easily? Do I need to take them off and disassemble to see whats up with the springs or any other alternative rather than buy new ones?

h-y-d-r-a-u-l-i-c...and they are gas struts.

No, you can't adjust or service them. Just replace them. But get them at AutoZone. Nissan will want to seriously rape you for new OEM pieces.

buy new ones or make your own custom hood prop. they're just gas struts that eventually die.

Works great until the pliers or clamp slips and the hood comes crashing down on your head....

Spent the 20 bucks a side and replace the hood supports (partsamerica.com, autozone.com, etc).... but if you insist on using ghetto methods, thats fine - just know you are playing with your life.... same with getting under the car without jackstands... don't do it.

I use the vise grip just like people said, and i also used the stick at some point. the stick gets in the way of you work but the vise grip doesn't. I went to Advance Auto parts and picked up both for little under $50 and its all worth it.

i rather pay more to be 100% safe. It's my head that's gonna get slammed if I go the cheap route.
