225-50-16 or 225-55-16 would fit *perfectly*. I'd pick 225-50-16 for the shorter sidewall over 55's...and they're only slightly smaller than the stock tires overall. Your speedometer will read 88 mph at 85 mph, something along those lines (minor).

hmm

I think you should go wider, 235-50-16...... A lot of people here throw 225 series on the stock 97-99 16 x 6.5 rim! It's a bit wider... just like people fit 235 tires on 17" by 7-8 rims, you can put 235s on your 16 by 8... The only problem is, I don't know how easy it is to find 235/50/16 tires... check tirerack.com

Depending on your offset...

How about the easy to find 245/45 size? 235 is a hard size to find, IIRC..

245s will stick out a little... 225s will be flush with the rim... be careful parallel parking!

don't go for too wide, you will find yourself loosing straight line performance. I would say go with the 215 50 or the 225/45.

make sure you get the PROPER offset or you will loose cornering stability.

I just bought Kumho 225-50-16 VR.. It's kinda sticking out, but I guess I'll get used to it.. Thanks for all your comments,
But after putting rims on, drove few miles and every time I trying to stop or slow down, my handle turning in to right side by little. any comments would help.. thanks..

It typically takes a few miles (100?) before the tires "get in the groove" and track well... I can't explain it... but it happens to me every time...
