I have been thinking about converting my Max to a 5 speed manual transmission. And my auto trans is the only thing that has been holding me back from boosting my Maxima. For those who did the 5 speed manual trans conversion, where did you get your transmission? Any place you guys can recommend i can look. Installation will be done by me and my friends and tools should be no problem. What year transmission would bolt right in to my car. Sorry if this has been asked before, i can't search. are you looking for a VLSD also in your transmission? get a 96-99 Infiniti I30 Transmission, and then get one of their front axle's. or if you want, get a 5th gen 6 Speed Transmission from a 2000 Maxima. might have HLSD, might not have it at all.

 

www.car-part.com This is where I got my tranny and parts from. I would suggest looking for a 5th gen 2000-2001 tranny.

 

just one of the I30's axles? why not both? so just one could be used from the I30 on the driver side and a regular 4th gen axle for the passenger side?


and does anyone know the difference between the VLSD tranny in the I30 and the LSD tranny in the 2k1 Max? which one is better or are they just about the same?

 

What other years will bolt right up to my engine other than the 96-99? Is the 2000-2001 trans any better? syncros, gearing....
