I have destroyed the ground wire attached between the y-pipe and the catalytic converter.

What does this ground wire do, and where might I find a replacement? Any muffler shop, i.e. are these ground wires found on all cars?

 

no one carries it... my nissan dealer told me its somethin put on the car before its put on the boat or something and the dont have a number for the part

 

i'm not sure if it is used for anything, but if you want it back on and can't find the part you can always make your own ground wire.

 

Exhaust moving at high-speeds through the pipes induce a negative electrical charge. The ground wire transfers this charge and disperses it to your vehicle. If it makes you feel better, I'm running without it too.

 

I am also running without it due to destroying it back when the y went on.

 

you can get a new one at any autoparts store. go to the battery section and look for the braided wire. Im thinking about getting a new one just because.

I too dont have one (on either Max)

Ive herd its a ground wire to the O2 sensors, and that its to reduce static electricity.
