Door bumpers

I asked this a while ago and didn't get much response, so hopefully I'll have better luck this time.

My door trim/bumpers look like crap. They have a white color to them. They may have gotten wax on them at some point, or is there any other possible cause? I have tried mother's "back to black" it worked alright (better but not perfect) and only lasted a few weeks. Is there anything I can do to fix this or should I just get new ones?

you can try cleaning them witha mixture of alcohol and water to remove the was residue, and than coating them with 303 aerospace protectant, but just like the back to black you will need to reapply periodically but it wont leave it greasy like the b to b.

Start using a higher quality wax that won't stain trim to avoid this problem in the future. If the rubber looks aged and dry, I'd recommend Einzett Vinyl and Rubber Care to restore the weatherstripping.

They've pretty much looked like this since I got the car I believe. I use meguiars professional hi-tech yellow wax (#27?)...The ones in the tan bottles. I think it's pretty good stuff. Thanks for the ideas guys. White95max, is that einzett stuff something I could get at most autoparts places or is there an online store I should get it from?

I've never seen it at any autoparts stores around here. I got mine from the Autopia Store. I just used my new bottle of Einzett Gummifledge (rubber cleaner and protectant) today on all of my rubber door/trunk/hood seals. You could use that stuff, or the Einzett Rubber/Vinyl Care. I have both, and they both say that they clean and protect rubber parts. The Gummifledge specifically says it works on door seals, so maybe that's the one you should try. I had some light wax residue on my door seals today, and the Gummifledge removed it. It also makes the rubber really soft, which keeps it from drying out, freezing, turning gray, or cracking. I would assume that the protective coating on the rubber would resist future wax staining as well.

I know there are lots of meguiars products in tan bottles (I use the show car polish and fine cut cleaner too). They are the "professional" ones. The consumer ones or whatever are in plum colored bottles.

I'm not talking about the door seals. I'm talking about the body colored plastic pieces that go along the middle of the door. I called them bumpers because I believe they are meant to keep people from opening their door into your car. Would these products still work on those?
