Anyone Seen Factory XM Radio Antenna?

Hi, I'm a new member here, and I have a question regarding the installation my dealer did on an XM radio antenna.

I bought a new '05 on Saturday and opted for XM radio. It wasn't factory installed, but the dealer assured me he could do a factory job -- one indistinguishable from a factory job, at least.

I picked it up today (Tuesday) at dusk, and when I got it home, I looked it over. The antenna is not centered, and it's mounted just above the rear windshield. The center line of the rear window defroster combined with the visual center created by the roof's skylights make the antenna scream "off center!"

Additionally, it's a big, clunky, first generation "after-market in appearance" dull black antenna with the XM logo on it. Contrasting this with the slick body-colored antennae being installed by Honda makes me feel like I got rooked on this installation.

Additionally, during cleanup of the car today, they put several scratches on it. I really wish I'd never taken it back to them.

SO... can anyone tell me (or better yet, show me a picture of) an '04 or an '05 Maxima with a FACTORY XM (or Sirius) antenna installed? I'd love to show the dealer and be able to say, "It's supposed to look like this!!!"

Thanks in advance!

well as far as it being off center and scratches around the area of installation goes, i would've taken the car back to them immediately or at least called and made it known you have issues you'd like them to take care of. i'd call the dealership first thing if i were you. hopefully some of the guys on here will be able to supply you pictures

I did a quick search on e-Bay and found the pic above. If that is what you got I feel really bad for you. My XM antenna is pictured below (sorry for the bad picture) and I have seen some that are 1/3 the size of mine. If that is what you were supposed to get I say buy a new one on e-Bay and swap it out. It shouldn't be hard to do.

definitly ask them to get you the new micro antenna made by Trek. That thing with the tail is from back when XM first came out, lol!

Thanks, Guys...

Actually, the one I ended up with is the one with the tail out of the back -- if you can believe it, the first one was worse than that. I found out that there is no "factory" XM antenna... they're all dealer-installed options. Nissan needs to remedy this, IMO... I'm on my way next week to lose my "tail-bearing" antenna and have one put inside and out of view. I had one inside on my Jetta, and it worked fine.

Thanks everyone!
