Are there any benefits of RE-Timming

On some of my previous cars I re-timmed them and it would result in smoother idle etc. Are there any benefits if I were to get her re-timmed??

Ignition timing doesn't change, it's controlled by crank shaft sensors and the ECU. You can have the timing changed a degree or two by a dealer. Hard part is finding one that will actually do that for you.

Lemme know next time you need ECU re-programing and I can bump your timing up via Consult- since you are local

After cleaning my TB and disconnecting it, the computer keeps retarding my timing even after I do the Idle Air Volume Learning Procedures. When I take it to the dealer and they use the consult, do you think they'll beable to keep my computer from resetting the timingh or do you think I"ll have to get another computer like another member did? I know this is a pretty vague question, but I'm just not too familiar on resetting the timing.

Once the timing is set via Consult, it can only be changed via Consult. So if you clear the ECU data or anything the timing advance will still be stored in the ECU. Also proper way of setting idle air volume learning is via Consult, alot of times manual tests do not wanna set right.

Snappier throttle response, 6WHP at wheels more, engine is alot more responsive at low RPMs. Its a common thing to do with cars- advance timing from factory spec, 2-3 deg. But the newer cars are not as EZ to do as lets say a 92 Sentra or 94 Altima, where all you needed was a timing light ( can purchase one at Sears ), and a 12mm wrench to loosen the 2 12mm bolts in order to advance the distributor. I found my moms 00 Altima had its timing below factory spec, if I remember correctly they call for 20 DEG BTDC, and her car was at 17 DEG. I bumped up the timing to 22DEG and installed a K&N drop-in filter and the car will burn rubber when U just nail the gas pedal at the light- brake torque it and it will challenge a 4th gen auto Maxima to a burnout And its a 155HP/160TQ 2.4L automatic. We have found out in the past that Nissan sometimes likes to have the timing retarded from where it should be at, and rarely its at where it supposed to be. In order to advance a VQ, you need a Consult scan tool.
