Yes, you do need 1/2" or so spacers for the rear wheels only. If you have a half inch spacer you also need longer lugs and the setup can be expensive, I think only H&R makes them and they're at least $120.
And I don't know why anyone would put Z31 wheels on a max, not really worth it if you ask me.
DO you have a link where I can find these lugs & spacers? I need help, cause Im not too good with all this "offset" stuff & "spacing" Thanx For Any Help. Also can I put 1 inch spacers in the rear & not need longer lugs???

Well for one, you don't need these rinky dink spacers to use them. And they are 16".

because if u know how to strip and polish they look better than z32 wheels
So do I need spacers or not? Im getting mixed answers??? I'm most likely to trust Jeff92SE, seeing as he is a "Moderator" & how many posts he has. Anymore help from you Jeff thanx! I need to know exactly what "Spacers or Lugs" I need or if I dont need them at all. Thanx

thank you jeff for that.
now many questions arise: will the Z31 rims, or OEM 3rd gen SE rims, clear big brakes? like the Z32 brakes? or BlehmCo brakes? i just upgraded my front cals to skyline gts-t (z32). will i be able to run stockies ever again? and what about the mini-spare tire? will that clear big brakes? or do i need to get a Z32 spare? life is different now.

Well the skyline calipers are basicly Z32 4 piston calipers. But you never specied if you are running any bracket or larger rotor (IMHO necessary for any improvement in braking distance and not just fade resistance) So let's assume you are running these calipers on turned down Z rotors or something.
1) You will need a 16" rim min. Easiest to run would be the NA Z32 wheels. Those should clear dia / width wise. "should" being key here.
2) You can't use the stock 15" or the 16" Z31 wheels. Neither have the caliper clearance necessary. As you know the Z31s use a single or 2 piston caliper. Both on the inside of the caliper. The stock 15"s are too small also.
3) Donut. I put my spare on my bro's na Z32 on the rear and that's all I can say. His donut was a bit different. ie.. more room for caliper clearance.
Now the 2nd part is about the BBK kits. Min 17" rims. Need the proper offset and spoke design to clear either kit. Z32 spare would have no chance at clearing these two set ups.

jeff, i milled down the skyline rotor 3.5mm from the radius. i had to do this. so the rotor, now, is actually a hair smaller than OEM. the skyline and maxima rotor were the same diameter, the skyline rotor's width being thicker. way thicker. the brakes stop excellently even though they are still being broken in. the difference is mostly with fade over distance. there is practically zero brake fade. they put a death grip on the rotors.
i figured i'd be kissing goodbye the possibility of swapping back to OEM SE rims once i did this -point of no return. the cals are 4-pot. big. like lordrandall's, exactly the same setup.
i'm running skyline wheels, so the whole ensemble works sweetly. i used the skyline brake lines, too.
so i cannot use either z31 16" or maxima 3rd gen SE 15".
i guess i got to keep a skyline wheel in the trunk now. sh*t.
i gotta tell you, though, the 3rd gen SE should have had the z32 setup as standard equipment. that is really the actual brake for this car.

If you flat one of the fronts. You put the donut on the rear and move the good back to the front. You should really buy one of my rear bbk brackets and buy a set of turbo Z31 rotors. Gain an 1" in Diameter in the rears.
jeff, i am assuming the term 'donut' is jargon for 'spare.' i can get a z32 spare, then. that would take care of that. or---> if i keep the oem donut, i move it to the rear in the event i flat one of the fronts, so on and so on.
you have pics of the bbk's?

Rears? It's like the stock bracket but it moves the stock caliper out .5" to accomodate a 1" larger dia Z31 rotor. $75 shipped.http://community.webshots.com/album/156103082NbOYfr
