I just went to see how much it would cost to get
my windows tintit and the price was $275. Do you

Let me know what everyone thinks..

I guess it depends on what type of tint film, which windows,
and where you live...

I paid $190 for all windows including moonroof... medium tint all the way around, limo black for moonroof... lifetime warranty on tint film.

Just take care with the dots on the back windshield... they are your FM/AM antenna, and if you tint over them with certain types of tint, you're gonna kill reception...

(There was a thread somewhere about this)

$200 for 20% Platinum Plus Lifetime all around, no moonroof. It is a metallic tint and my guy did tint over the matrix after sanding it. I haven't noticed any appreciable drop in reception, but that could be because the signal from the stations I listen to is really strong. Behold, my tint experience to date - illegal in my state but no tickets...yet.

thats what those dots on the back window are?

i was wondering about that at first cause it does look kinda wierd. what sucks too is that i have dark tint plus a full faced windshield with medium tint and its easier to see inside the car at times because the light shines through the gap in the back window.

It was a post by otter'sMAX back on 3-31-01 (I took note because tinting is something I want to do - soon)

You know the black matrix pattern on the rear window right?

Well long story but had to have my back window retinted today. I told him about the trouble I was having getting the tint to look right over this and maybe he could sand it. He said he'd do one better. He had a product called "dotrix" that is a water based substance that fills in the holes around the raised bumps. This will evaporate with the water left under the tint, and the matix is then no longer a problem. The stuff is expensive. About $65 a bottle for 8oz. It is think blue substance. I already notice a difference and hope the rest of you with this problem can use this info. Now you don't have to have the installer cut the tint below that matrix and they can overlay the tint so you get a uniform coverage. It looks great. I asked about others who had this. He said if you had you tint done about 4 months or less, that the installer could use a steamer to release the tint (just over the matrix). Then use this stuff and reapply the tint over the matrix. This can all be done w/o having to redo the entire tint process.

I paid 150$ with 1 year warranty..

But they did a poor job, the film ends way too early, when you roll the windows down you can see there is a gap of 3/4-1" between the ending of the film and the edge of the window... on the drivers side, when u roll the window all the way up there is 1/2 inch line between the door panel and where the film begins... Back window is tinted in like 6 pieces... those guys are ****ing morons, he said 2-3 pieces. (do not go to 18th ave. and 85 st. in Brooklyn NYC ) Make sure they know what they are doing. I think these guys knew what they were doing but just put no effort in my tint, since it's a "Maxima" I saw them getting down on a 420 BENZ, now they did that car well, and ****ed mine up.. I'm planning on going back and having them fix all this **** under warranty, if I can find it...
It's worth paying the extra 50$ for a quality job.. trust me, i wish I did.

I bought my car with the tint on it it is 2% on the back window and the little corners on the side, 5% on all of the side windows, and 35% on the whole front window, with a 10" 2% strip, but I asked the guy who tint my last two Maximas and he said that it would cost me around 200 to redo it but that if he redid it it would not be as dark because the film on the car is dyed which is darker than the new metalic film that he now uses which lasts alot longer, he said that the metalic 5% is really like 8 or 10 %.

I paid $150 for all around except moonroof, 20% charcoal black + 5 year warranty.

I had the back windsheild tinted from edge to edge, over the antenna. so far, 0% loss in FM or AM reception.

Tint Pricing

1) It depends on the tint shop (some are shady).
2) Depends on the area you live in. For example, in the Philly area, you'll pay more than most of the rest of the country. Not all, but most. The demand for tint is much higher because many people get their cars tricked out.
3) Depends on the tint you're gettin. Lifetime tint usually runs more expensive, but lasts much longer. It's a bit more time consuming (less flexible) to install, so they probably figure this into the labor price.
