$488 for a MAFS installed by nissan!? :ekk:
So i am taking an onramp to get on a hwy, and i am flooring it to match the speed of on comming traffic. i make my way into the high speed lane, and all of a sudden my car makes a weird noise, and the engine starts surging, and i can feel the tranny jerking around though the shifter. i let off the gas, and the car stalls. just great.
so I immediately think I blew up my engine or something... lol... so I pull over and wait on the side of the road. i start her back up, and she starts! yay! but the rpms are all over the place. so i push the gas a bit, and the rpms would not go over 2000. thats when i knew it was the MAFS.
i took it to nissan on thursday the 11th, and i did not get my car back until yesterday, the 17th. nissan was booked, and they told me that they had 4 MAFS in stock, but they all sold the day before i brought it in. so the ordered a new one, but they ordered the wrong one.
so they gave me a rental for a day, which made me somewhat happy, but i still rather have my car back in a reasonable time.
so my car was ready, and it cost $488 to fix it! thank God it was covered under the warenty. nissan is so crazy with their prices. moral of the story, if you blow a MAFS and are not covered under your warrenty, then get one off of dave b. lol.
-btw, for a rental i had a 2005 pontiac grand am, with 8400miles on it, and let me say this... what a peice of crap. makes me happy i drive my car. the grand am has sponge cake for suspension, no hids, no options, cheesey interior, and annoying gauges. the only thing i like was that when you in the car, you can't hear ANY outside noise. nothing at all. it was great. no rattles, no wind noise, and a big truck locked up his tires 50ft from me, and i didn't hear it! cool stuff.
sorry for typing so much.

took it to knights nissan in warwick. yes, i took the car home first, took everything off, put the factory intake back on. it was well worth it... saved me $500. but it was very dangerous driving the car since it stalled so much, and had no power. took me about 2 mins to get up hwy speeds.
as far as the accident, my lawyer is working on it right now. i will not have the car fixed until spring time because i do not want the snow and ice to hurt the soft paint.

yea, i know it. i mean granted i had an intake installed, but i never had this problem with any other of my three 4th gen maxima's... nissan should be improving the car as time goes not, not making things worse. maybe i will atempt to make a 2001 maf fit in my car. bah.
