I was working on my car today and after I reconnected the battery, I noticed my clock stopped displaying time, radio won't turn on (reject button works) and horn is not working. Checked the radio and horn fuse and they are fine. Any ideas?

 

did you pull any relays?

 

all I did was removed the factory radio/cd and put it back in place

 

did you check the fuses in the engine bay??

 

That's where I checked the fuse for horn and radio. They were both good. It's weird how eject button works but radio won't turn on. Hope I can figure out what's wrong w/ my car because driving w/out a radio sucks

 

perhaps there is a reset for when the radio is removed but im not sure why that would affect the horn. i would have to second zippin's suggestion.

 

I removed and put back factory radio bunch of times before. Nothing like this ever happened.

 

i thought the eject button on the stock radio works even when the power is off. at least on my friends 130 it does.

did you check the panel fuses by the steering wheel?

 

not likely, did you rip off a ground wire?

 

That's a good question. Possibly but where should I start looking?

I didn't know eject button still works w/out power. If fuses are ok then I should start looking for loose ground wires. Sigh....

Is there a fuse for clock? Don't think there's any.

 

why don't you disconnect the battery, take out the radio and install carefully. pay attention to all the clips and wires....

 

Heh I tried that before I went to night class. Didn't work so drove 2 1/2 hours w/out radio, clock, and horn.

I'm gonna check all the fuses under steering wheel first.

 

Replaced "wiper" fuse and radio and clock works. Horn still doesn't work and I've checked ALL the fuses. Any other ideas?

 

I had a problem with my alarms parking lights. they took it out said the alarms board was fried. called me back installing the new alarm and asked "did your door locks and horn work when you brought us the car." They said that there is a board that got fried that has all those features on it. This was the short version, but they definitely were the ones that did it.

 

Do you know what that board is called?

 

SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME 3 WEEKS AGO! I've been driving around with no clock nor radio since! All the fuses seem fine, i've checked all the wiring, wipers work just fine and i think i still have the horn ? I was never able to get an answer from anyone on the org. I might just have to bite the bullet and take it to nissan and have them take a look at it. $75 an hour, OUCH! that's going to hurt, plus parts!

 

I got the clock and radio working again. Check your "wiper" fuse under your steering wheel.

So, does your horn work or no?

 

I don't think in this instance it would be my wipers, as i've used them since. Just this morning to wipe the water off the windshield. I'm pretty sure the horn works, when i arm the alarm it sounds.

So i don't know I'm going to lunch in about an hour, i'm going to check it out again and see if maybe i missed something.


Went and checked it. Horn works fine, wipers work fine and also checked the fuses......fine. What i'm thinking of doing is when i get home is disconnecting the positive cable from the battery and leaving it for a few hours like that. Hopefully that'll make the car "reset" itself or something like that.

im replacing the whole system soon so it doesnt really affect me, im gonna have them look at it

Well when i got home i disconnected the positive cable from the battery and now i just went out to reconnect it. Before i started the car i rechecked every single fuse and even took out the big block ones in the engine compartment and reseated everthing. Started the car and no radio and no clock!

Either it's the fuse box itself that is not sending the signal to those parts or there is some type of inline resistor and or fuse that i can't see. I've checked the schematics and i don't understand it well enough to confirm it, but i don't think there is.

 

Oh boy........ My last resort was the dealership

 

I'm going to take the car to Factory Car Stereo Repair, Inc ( http://www.carstereohelp.com/ ) here in Orlando, see if they can take a look at it. Since they deal with our radios on a day to day basis maybe they know something and won't charge me an arm and a leg. I'll keep you posted!

So my brother took the car to Factory Car Stereo Repair, Inc today. IT WAS A BLOWN FUSE I KNOW I CHECKED THEM! TRIPLE CHECKED THEM Turned out to be the power window fuse! WTF?! I have clock and radio. How is that? Guess i didn't check them all. I feel like such a dumbass

I found out my radio and clock wasn't working due to blown "wiper" fuse! Still need to fix my horn though. I'll check all the fuses AGAIN

Yea, i thought i had checked all of them also. There are about 2 regular fuses for the horn as well as i believe 2-3 relays?? Not sure, but the relays are on the passenger side. IF it's not a fuse it MIGHT be a relay.
