Poor Nissan service? what would you do?
Atleast it's what I heard in Ontario, Canada.
Just want some insight from my fellow VQs... I have a 2k5 altima 3.5, sorry, no maxima....
Anyways, I called the service depo before, they seem to try and avoid solving my problem... so I think that's one of the reasons why everyone rags about nissan dealers being medicore?
Had my car since July. Used 89 gas for about the first 2mths, and now, 91 supreme for the past 2mths. The car has a slight PING/TICK at precisely 1600rpm, no pings @ higher or lower RPM'S. This has been occuring for a bit. Going to take the car in for service soon. Since it's not THAT big of a deal, I have put it off for a bit, & I don't want Nissan to BS me and try to avoid the problem.
I am assuming the valves might be a bit contaminated? I don't know why, since 89 was only used for 2mths. Maybe the spark plugs as well?
I don't want them to overlook it, since it seems small, or blame me for using 89, or putting it off, causing this... what would you do?
Also, the CD container near the tiptronic, squeaks and rattles. I tried WD40, but to prevent this temporarily, if you push the right side, in the LEFT direction, to make the bolts more tightened up, it gets better, but resumes after awhile. I was a MORON, & opened/closed it too much, pushed it quite a bit more. Now, one of the sides came off, and I can't put it back on! But regardless, that container cover needs to be replaced/adjusted anyways. But I don't want to give them the impression I phucked up the car!
Suggestions?
Finally, how long would it take to clean the valves and replace the CD container cover(under warranty), while I seek them with my oil change?
thanks in advance

Nissan service was never good at containing a squeak or rattle. You must do it yourself. Get access to a service manual and whip out the foam tape to supress the squeaks and rattles. I would think that its too soon to clean the valves. You might want to try a different brand of gas to see if that cure the problem. Try a higher octane if possible also. If that doesn't solve your problem, raise hell at your Nissan dealder because they should fix things that are wrong. Otherwise, you could try www.altimas.net for more altima questions or needs.
