What about Rotors?

I got myself those OEM pads. I think my rear rotor is past that 8mm thikness limit, definetely need new ones. I think the rears are the originals. Thats 95k miles on them. Dealer is charging about 190 for set of rears here. I can get brembos for about 210 here is Boston. However, www.nissan-auto-parts-dealer.com is charging almost half less. ANyone bought anything from them? Or those OEM they sell, or some cheapo aftermarket?

Last question? I heard that xdrilled aren't that good, and that slotted are better. Very conflicting experiences.. What rotors are you guys running?
Thanks
Nick

Very pleased with the OEM's performance for daily driving here. Mated up to slotted & cross drilled iRotors.

OEM are very good. I chose to go with a different pad that my mechanic, a nissan master tech. suggested. It's the Wagner quietcool ceramic pad. Great stopping performance, very quiet and little to no dust.

But you can't go wrong with OEM.

How about Akebono pads. They supply OEM parts to many car manufacturers. We just started selling their line of ProACT pads not too long ago and I have heard nothing but great reviews about them. Sold a set to my roomate for his 2000 max and he loves them, very quiet, very little dust, and he said the bite is as good as oem if not better. They are a little more expensive than the other aftermarket pads we offer but are well known as being a quality pad.

See if you can get a fellow .org member to help with the install. Most of the guys here are cool and more than happy help for a lot less than a shop would charge.

I really dig those fog lights you have. My OEM ones cracked and one doesn't work anymore. Where did you get those ones and how much did they cost?

I know I'm not answering any question you've asked, but I'm going to be getting Performance Friction Z Rated pads for my 300zx calipers. I don't think many people at all on the board use this pad, but for the ones that do they love em.

...... just another option for ya

Hey Nick, I am new to the forum. last week my dealer said that both my front and rear rotors and pads need to be changed. I don't believe him cos I have 22K miles on them.(I don't drive with my leg on the brake pedal). Do you know a reliable mechanic in the boston area, becuase I don't want to take the car to another stealership. I need a second opinion, and if they really need to be changed, I am looking for someone to give me advise on after market rotors and pads who can also install them cheaper.
Thanks!
Rishi

Breaks

Hi,
I do know some mechanics, but they aren't breaks specialists. I do breaks myself, unless I have to resurface the rotors. What year is your car? I think stealer replaced mine few years ago about at the same milage, cause rotors warped.
I bought pads and rotors from Dealer in Colorado. Shipped here. They charge 40-50% less over the internet. http://www.nissan-auto-parts-dealer.com
Good luck

Hawk HPS pads, sold through tire rack, they don't dust too much if you bead them in right. OEM pads suck, they contribute to the rotors warping. I junked my 2nd set of pads at 50K miles when the pad indicator was having its way with my OEM rotors. I got Hawk and finally I have not warped a rotor in the last 50K miles. Stopping power is very high with the HPS, compared to stock I dunno why you would even wanna mess with installing the stock pads. I am finally putting my Blehmco kit on this week, with TTZ calipers, and I am sitting at home right now awaiting my new Hawk HPS pads for my TTZ calipers that are coming from Tire Rack, should be in today along with the Blehmco brackets. I got IRotors Slotted and Drilled Zinc plated 04 Maxima rotors, Powedercoated Red with Polished Nissan TTZ calipers, Goodridge SS lines, Hawk pads front, Akebono ProCeramic rear pads with stock rotors. I think I will have to change my rear rotors finally, as they have 100K miles on them. If the funds permit, get the Blehmco rear brake upgrade too.

OEM Pads and a good flush/bleed.

and OEM based blank rotors. Cross-drill/slotted are bling items only and do not improve braking.
