called NISSAN for BOSE system... and guess what?

Well guys, im pissed off

I called NISSAN for the bose system and i said "its my 3rd maxima, i had problems with my bose with my 2k2 max and now with 2k3 maxima i have the same problem, i went to the dealer and they want $450 for it, i was thinking to give it them back and get other car but no NISSAN, im sick of it, I CANT hear music when i use the cd player, when i had 2k2 max they said that fixed the problem and after 2 weeks i got the same problem, why im gonna pay $450? for nothing" ..... NISSAN said "you are the first one that complaint for the bose system, maybe you listed the music too loud, if we get more complaints we gonna RECALL the bose system"

they are id!ots... im surprise cuz they said im the first one that complaint... eveybody has problems with bose system... im surprise as well

I'm on my 5th Bose stereo. This one is holding up pretty good. The people you need to complain to is Clarion who makes the Nissan stereos.

Just ditch the BlOwSE for a Alpine aftermarket radio, you won't have problems with it. I am sooo glad I didn't get the AE Max I wanted to get and got a GXE. Acura where I work at has BOSE on all older TLs, and we almost never have problems with radios. They like to jam CDs inside. But thats bout it, depending on the year of the car it can have Alpine or Panasonic, or Pioneer HU. 99% of the time the indash 6 disk changer is what goes bad on the 01-03 cars, it gets stuck and won't eject with CD-Rs in it. Clarion just makes crap for aftermartket or OEM radios. My 00 Altima just blew left rear speaker 2 weeks ago on its Clarion sound system, its not Bose. I am just going to get some Pioneer 6.5s for it and call it a day.

I always wanted a Bose system on my Max, but after reading this post. It made me glad that I just have the stock speakers, whoever makes those speakers for those have non-bose syste. I never had any issues, but I had my radio replace once due to the volume **** doesn't work when I try to turn up or down but only via the steering control.

Throw in the towel and get an AM unit. I've only replaced it once (under warranty) so far. If my warranty expires and they told me i'd have to pay $450, i would give them the and go buy something else.

You're about to do exactly what they want you to do ... go away.

It's under warranty, make them fix it. Stand in the middle of the dealership and start raising your voice louder and louder (but do not "yell") and talk about how "...customer service is really failing (louder) on this very simple fix that you've researched and you KNOW is a problem with many nissan cars(louder), and if they're going to give you the run-around on THIS (louder) then why should I buy another nissan ever!?"

Watch other customer heads turn, and watch the service manager come and try to take you out of the showroom, and hopefully promise to fix the problem.

BTW, it's not a problem with every Bose, mine's always worked fine.

Bose sucks. Just by an aftermarket HU and speakers and be done with it. Get a decent amp and sub while you're at it. You'll have a system that sounds 100 times better than the Blose.

I talked to an installer near me about putting in an aftermarket HU, sub and amp in my '03 Maxima and he asked if I had the standard HU in there or if I had the Bose system. I said standard and he seemed relieved that I didn't have the Blose system. He even said they are crap.

No. Bose doesn't exactly make the hardware for most auto applications. As far as i know Bose in Maxima is an OEM by Clarion. For Altima's it's Panasonic.

Bose only does the acoustic tuning.

Definitely go with an after market unit. The cd player on my factory bose is skipping sometimes, which is really annoying.

I plan on doing a custom setup next time, probably a screen in place of the factory head unit and an aftermarket unit under the climate control....

no there are Bose components within the system.

Unfortunately, if you go aftermarket, the sound quality with the bose speakers and amps won't sound as good as with the OEM HU. If your an audiophil, its probably best to swap the speakers, bypass the amps or get new amps ect...

and yes, the HU is made by Clarion despite having a Bose faceplate.

BOSE sucks i had my 03 of about a year now and the speakers go in and out, theres a TSB you can go to, it only applies to 5.5 gen not 5th gen BOSE only. i dont remember the website but if you go to the top of the 5th gen discussion, you can find the service bulletin thread. either call nissan or take the TSB to the shop and show that to them, they have to fix it because the problem was already there. this problem seems to matter more with the 5.5gen i dont think many or any 5th gens have this problem much as we do. the whole nissan factory HU sucks anyways, i had a 5th gen for about a day and the CD player ate my CD and the brakes were making whistling noises, so i didnt buy it, instead i got a 5.5gen and it still has HU problems.... they just dont make great qaulity HU i guess... but other than that i love my maxima and i wouldnt mind buying another nissan, just get one without BOSE thats all...

Hmm, I honestly don't know what kind of speakers come with the Blose HU. Are they the same? Most stock speakers suck so if you get the bug to upgrade I would recommend upgrading the HU, then the speakers and then adding an amp and sub. You don't need to spend a bundle to improve on the stock unit that's for sure.

My BOSE works well... I have had CD Error only 3 times in the 2 years I have had the car. I do want new speakers though...I think listening too loud has busted them. I hear crackling every once in a while.

I'm on my 2nd Bose unit - and the cut-out left-right issues have stopped, however it skips without fail when it's cold (won't track).

I'm going to "report" it on my next visit to the stealer, and have them replace it if it gets worse before my warranty is up (28k now).

Beyond the warranty, the WHOLE system is going to get tossed.

I gave-up my sterophile hobby a few years ago after too many thefts, but I would NEVER pay to replace the BOSE system with the same stocker unit.

Not gonna do anything.... all they're gonna do is sit the car in a warm garage and then show you that they can't "replicate" the problem and therefore not fix/replace it.... I've been there... it wasn't until my speakers cut out did they replace the HU... even then... its back again... but not to that large of an extent....

That is very odd. I have dealt with Nissan Corporate a few times for the radio, only because at the same time I filed a brake rotor complaint. I am on my third Bose headunit all replaced for free. (I do have an infiniti and from reports they give much better customer service to us putzes)

I would write a letter, I had to do it. Tell them that you have had numerous issues with the same headunit, you are not alone, in fact you sought out others that have had the same problem and MANY of them were taken care of.

Little fyi. My mother bought a 2001 I30 that had a brake problem, infiniti replaced the rotors for free and the pads. I have a 2002 I35 that had a brake problem, at 25k miles I had to pay for new rotors because while Infiniti said they were defective they wouldnt replace them. I went up the chain to no avail, and yet my mothers car was fixed for free.
