I have painted fog lights with stock bulbs... but i heard a lot of people using narva's, especially 5th genners with yellow fogs.

I have some Hella Yellow Gold 85w H3s.

The one on the right is a the 85w Hella Yellow Gold. The one on the left is a 55w XD5. My headlights are also XD5s. The bulbs are somewhat yellow, but not enough for my taste. I am probably going to buy some kind of projectors. I have yellow stock fogs on my Infiniti QX4 and I like the way they look.

I agree. Are those in a clear housing or did you put in some kind of yellow lens?

I am very happy with my narva rally golds 85 watts. In 95 96 foglamps, you won't get cracking but in the 97-99 you might.

I think the 95-96 glass is a little more hefty from what I've read. Search if you can. Just make sure you don't touch the bulb or get any moisture in the housing.

It's only been about 6 months since I've had my Narva's but I hvaen't had any problems with them.

yeah it looks more heavy duty than the 97+. ima have to look into that to make sure. 6 months is quite a while for high wattage bulbs. have you used em in rain, cold weather, etc?

I still love the PIAA crystal yellow ions in the fogs for winter time. PIAA super plasma or super xtreme white for summer depending on the mood.

Is there a huge diffrence between the NARVA 85W and 55W bulbs? I am going to think that the 85W is much brighter but doesn't it run the risk of buring the wiring with an 85W bulb.

Yes if you run an 85w bulb in your fog you could either crack your lens or burn your harness. Run a 55w and you should be fine.

this might be a myth but the h3 bulb does not have a harness. just a male and female adaptor. so burning the harness is not an issue. now cracking the glass is. Especailly when you go form dry to rain. the glass is so hot that water cool it does to fast causeing it to crack.

I got mine in Feb so it's acutally been 9 months. It's been through 3 months of Northeastern winters, Northeastern rains in the spring and hot, humid summers. No problems what so ever. Now, it's important to know that I was meticulous when I installed them and made sure NOTHING got into the housing and no fingerprints or anything got inside.

85 watts is bright as hell. I had 55w but they were dull against my HID's. 85 was the way to go. i am smart about using it. I rarely will use it on long 9 hour drives continuously unless I need it. When I am tooling around town however, I usually have them on all the time at night.

If you are really worried about the burning issue, you can replace the thin wire with thicker gauge wire. If you don't have HIDs, go with 55w, you will be happy with them but if you have HID, 85 is awesome!

good luck

Great info Rowan. one more question is there any truth to 95-96 fog lights being better quality than the 97-99 fogs? i would love to get the 85W but i am probally just going to get the 55W since there will be no problems. i can't afford to replace those expensive fogs
