Could someone shed some light as to what is involved in these upgraded wire harness? I picture replacing the harness from the bulb to wherever it leads to which looks like you need to tear into an existing wire harness. Am I wrong or just stupified?

Also what choices are available (in terms of wattage bulbs) in upgraded bulbs and what type of price are we talking?

TYIA for any input on this subject.

it's pretty simple...there is a relay...2 wires goto positive battery, the upgraded wires then go from the relay and it includes the sockets so that u only plug one of the stock sockets into part of the new harness and the other stock relay u just tie off...it's really easy...u just plug it in...no cutting

your existing harness is not removed but you add on a new one. Is that how it works? Also, about how much do they cost and what type bulbs could I go with?

Does the harness also have an attachment for the cornering lights next to the headlights as well? I'm running higher wattage polarg dual filament bulbs in there now.

The upgraded wiring harness allows you to run 80/100W 9004 bulbs without the risk of melting the stock wiring harnesses. Stock bulbs are 45/65W. Sounds like a good idea, but I would be curious to know whether this would put a strain on the alternator.

the harness is only for the head lights...there are none for the corner lights ( next to headlights )...i don't think that they would burn

Thank you everybody

BTW, do you all get "flashed" from other drivers with the higher wattaged bulbs or can you pretty much aim them so they won,t interfere with other drivers?

I will look into it and see what I can do considering I did the "Dan B Max" low/high beam mod (which still works great!). I still want them to stay on together.

I put in my harness today from suvlights.com. Works great. Also install, my lights I got off ebay. I have since read bad things about lights made in Korea, but I guess you learn as you go.

I bought a pair of Xenon Super White 9004's off an eBay vendor, the brand is Bio Light. Korean. The guy assured me that these are safe for straight replacement of stock bulbs. The rating on this buyer was great... no reports of any problems. I've been running these bulbs on my electrical system for a week now, several hours of night time driving. I checked the wires and they don't look like they've been overheating... The bulbs do seem to be of very good quality. The illumination is nicely bright with a trace of blue--very Mercedes like. Good foul weather performance too, although I'm leaving my driving lights alone (nice to have a variety of lighting types).

Are there any particular warning signs you can spot to determine of your wiring harness is being overtaxed? (beyond the obvious of dripping melted insulation).

A blown fuse or fusible link.

After your lights have been on for a while, touch the wires to see/feel if they appear hotter than normal or than should be.

These are the ones I bought and I still put in the harness. Took about 5 minutes and that was only because the directions were clearly written by an asian guy. It said hook the black wire to the Earth (instead of ground).
Loooks sweet though

well Earth = ground. My dad calls the ground of a circuit the 'earth'. But he was educated under the british/asian school system, so they use words like that.

Hi Paul - thanks for the tip. I did test the wires with the brights on and they don't feel particularly hot... But maybe I'll get a harness afterall. Sounds like good insurance. Where did you get yours and how much $$?

Btw, don't these Bio Lights look great? It's just the right whitish-blue color I was looking for. Looks expensive. And they still light up the road nicely in bad weather. I'm thinking of keeping the stock H3 lights in my fogs, though. They seem to still work very well in tandem with the low beams. Why muck with what does the job, right?
