Vibrating grumbling nosie below 5mph when braking
I have a 98 GLE with 100k mikes on it, and I started to get this grumbling noise and some vibration when I brake, but this only happens right before the car comes to a complete stop, at around 5mph and below. I don't hear any noises when using the brake on the highway or speeds above 5 mph.
My pads were pretty old and so were the rotors, so I got some Raybestos Quiet Stops and some OEM immation rotors by 'Auto Pride' put in but that still hasn't solved the problem.
Then I saw this on Consumer Guide
'Trouble Spots - Brake noise: Groaning from the rear brakes is caused by the parking brakes not fully releasing, requiring new brake cables and pads.'
Has any one else had similar problems, if so how did you have to replace brake cables, where do those fit in any way and how much does it cost?
Oh yeah and now that it's getting cold in the morning when I pull my car out of the drive way I hear a squeaking noise when I have the steering wheel turned to the end, any ideas on how to take care of that?
Thanks!

it could be a hub bearing or something like that. you also might want to look at your cv joints. if they're bad you'll hear/feel it at lower speeds, but usually when you're turning a corner. just visually inspect everything behind the wheel up to the transmission.
when you changed your brakes, did you notice if any of your caliper pistons were siezed or hard to push in or turn in? i was having something of a similar problem and it ended up being my rear caliper piston was siezed in place.
