Just painted my brake calipers **PICS**

I just painted my brakes and they came out great. I used the G2 Caliper Paint Kit. (www.g2usa.com) Below are before and after shots. I'll put up more pics later on my webpage but with these you get the idea.

Before:

After:

They are red, red. In the picture they look a little orangy but they are red as red can be. I only painted the calipers and opted to paint the rest of the brake hardware flat black. I think it looks much better than painting it all red. I was a bit hesitant to pay so much for paint when I figured I could do the same with high-temp spray paint but it's not the same. This kit hardens to a beautiful glossy finish that feels smooth, not rough like with spray paints. Really happy with the kit and results.

Nice Job!! It makes a big difference, especially when you have rims.

I was gonna say why did you paint them orange

pretty good, I painted mine blue a while back but I painted everything including the part where the caliper bolts mount on blue. I'll probably paint my rotors like you did since I'm in dire need of new ones soon. Nice job though

What do you mean paint your rotors. You can't paint your rotors. That would mess up your braking. He didn't paint his rotors either. They are probably just clean now. And it looks like it might be dark outside also. Paint your rotors, while you're at it add some motor oil to your tire tread.

Thank You for trying to make me look like the idiot here... while your at it, here let me make you the idiot

Look at the face of the rotor, first picture dirty, second picture nice and black and shiny.

Use common sense, you dont paint the rotor where the pad makes contact, you paint it where the studs are sticking out so when you look through your rims you dont see dirty ugly rotor. You can also paint the very end of the rotor when the vents/veins are at..

Actually I did paint the entire rotor among other things with flat black spray paint. It does not affect braking at all because after the first time you use your brakes, the paint on the contact part of the rotor just gets destroyed without any side effects. It leaves the center nice and black as if I had masked it off without any trouble.

It's just spray paint.

The kit says that you can do it with the calipers installed but since I changed my brakes while I had everything apart, I found it easier to just paint them when they were off.

The paint from the kit has to be brushed on, so by painting them while off, I didn't have to worry about dripping anywhere. I dripped on part of the rotor and it didn't come off, it's under black paint now so it doesn't matter. This stuff really sticks. I think it would have been hard to paint with them on and NOT paint other stuff.

Thanks to all for the compliments. Glad you all liked.

The only thing about the kit is that, according to the instructions, the paint takes 24 hours to fully cure before the car can be driven again. But it definitely hardens and worth the wait.

Plus the heat from the brakes after a few stops should help it dry up even faster

Looks Nice.
I used engine enamel and my calipers are just as smooth and as glossy(when clean)as yours.
Ive had mine for over 2 yrs with no touchups and they still look good. I used the same engine enamel paint that I used for my motor and its equally as shiny and smooth. I think its all in the prep work.
When I first installed rotors with freshly painted calipers

1 yr after with new wheels

The red stands out very nicely on my gold Max. Today was cloudy and rainy and they still looked very nice. The pictures really don't do them justice.

Any color is better than brown rust but if you did them in black, they wouldn't really show at all. Like Ant96GLE stated above, red or silver would look awesome on a black Max.

Nice job. I wanna do red as well, lol it's funny though cuz they really do look like some exotic tangerine pearl color, but in the pics with the tires on they look red.
