Dissapointed With 5th Gen Short Life
Disappointed With 5th Gen Short Life
I'm very disappointed with Maxima 5th Gen. short life. When I bought my 2000 Max, I thought I would have a fresh looking model for at least 3 to 4 yrs. Now imagine with the all new Altima (Awesome by the way) ours will be history. Love those Altima rear tail lights. I bet Nissan hired new designers specially for rear buts.
Well, you can always trade in for a new one... Or you could stick it out with the most of us and have fun in a really great car. You'll still be able to beat most things out there
Plus, it's another Nissan that could beat you (do I hear mods???) which is better than a Mazda or Honda or Toyota...

Get use to it...
That's the wave of the future. You will see all manufacturers go to a three year model life due to leasing. Would you want to only have the option of getting the same vehicle you just turned in from your lease? Since the average lease last three years most model lineups will now match these leasing patterns.

kafene.
I went to the Auto Show Last Night and guess what? Loved the new Altima, but it reminded me why I purchased a Maxima. 45 sq ft leather, smooth ride, heated seats, Premium sound, dual side and front airbags, Bad A** reputation, automatic climate control, plenty leg room for this six footed all for $26K. I still love my baby!!!

I saw it at the show and I wasn't all that impressed. The dual exhaust was a turn on and a couple of other features but that's it.
On the model life note, I don't believe that model life spans are going to shorten due to leasing. No one else is really doing that. I just believe that Nissan is repositioning itself in the market with its newly regained strength. There's plenty of tough competition out there and they don't wanna be left behind and outta the mainstream. Remember...not too long ago Nissan wasn't doin to well. The new Maxima gave them a good stance which they wanna keep.
I say more power to them if it means they are going to convince me to buy one of their cars again!
Hmmmm?

Not to flame you or anything but I did not post what I thought, I posted a fact that you will see ALL major auto manufacturers begin to have short model live spans due to leasing. Don't misunderstand me the models will keep the same names but the body styling Will change. I got this fact from Autoweek magazine a number of years ago and I have a library of the various publications I have acquired during my time as a subscriber. I will not promise I will find this article though because I don't want to go to the effort of looking for it but if I come across it I will post it. If you don't believe that, see for yourself as the auto companies follow suit.
Were the 3rd generation 1989-1991 SE owners dissapointed with their short life when they introduced the VE SE? I think they were, too.
I know you guys have a reason to be mad. But complaining about it isn't going to get you nowhere.
