Cars with over 175,000... please answer this question:
What engine treatments have you used, if any, and what mileage do you have? It's nice to see a nice sized group of 175k+ and 200k+ mile guys cruising around. Have you used things like AutoRx, seafoam, etc, on your engines or do you just get regular oil changes or what? No poll because I'm more interested in hearing from the guys who actually have over 175k, not results from a skewed poll.

No additives here either ('95SE 5spd Canadianwith 242,000 miles (400,000kms), Sunoco 94 & Mobil 1 with a change to Amsoil last oil change. I tried GM top-end cleaner just recently to see if it would fix a surging at idle, of course it didn't
. Turns out it's an issue with my ECU screw, still unresolved. The car has aged well, but I was not pleased that I had to rebuild the 5-spd after about 120k miles. I still have the original clutch. My mechanic is always impressed with the way she still pulls and the only mod I have is a K&N drop in filter
. Here's a list of stuff I've had done in rough chronological order:
- coolant temp sensor
- knock sensor - disabled using resistor for the past 3yrs
- MAF - could've been damaged when i accidentally dropped the midpipe while changing back to factory intake from HAI
- cyl #1 injector
- water pump
-cv boots
- rebuild 5spd tranny...bad bearing preloao from new
- ball joints
- replaced timing chain tensioner (twice)
Could be a few more things..can't recall right now...

No engine treatments for me either. Just hit 190,000. I use only OEM replacement parts (cept for mods that have been done), and (gasp) 87 octane. I replaced my fuel filter at 150,000 miles and cut the old one open. It was clean as a whistle.
Regular oil changes are the key!! Nissan makes a fantastic engine in the 3.0 liter. Regular maintainence is what keeps them alive. I'm at 176k and I know it will go over 300k easy. A friend of mine has one over 330k and he is not as particular as I am. Maximas Rock.
Well my old car wasn't over 175 but it was at 166k miles with about 260 1/4 mile passes on it, most of which were shifts at 7200rpm, and countless more of those shifts on the street. I didn't use any special engine stuff. Just Castrol GTX oil every 6k or so and 93 octane, 92 on occasion.
basic stuff... flushed my brakes... flushed the radiator.. flushed the power steering and tranny< TWICE... everything is original from the factory including the muffler lol
i dunno but theres no holes in... my cat it burnd through... hehe
needs new bushings.... like everybody else basic maintenance
oh by the way if ur AUTO check the cooler hoses where the clamps are... over time the clamps will cut the hose or loosen up cause of age.... same goes for power steering cooler hoses... easy fix... i dunno maybe im the only with that prob... good luck man im @ 238K+

i got 220,000K when i swapped my motor. oil changes with every 2500k miles. used syntecblend, bow went to full syntec. always ran 93 octance since i purchased the car. as for replacements/maintaince since i owned it at 181,000k:
-both front O2 sensors
-191k 5 spd tranny changed(new)
-struts changed
-regular brake maintanced rotors, brakes and recently rear calipers
-water pump
-new paint at 218,000k
-tires etc
-and a bunch of upgrades, and modifications.
-heater core
-clutchs/ resurface flywheel
-speedo sensor
-knock sensor
-ecu
-blower resistor module
(and im changing my fuel filter, spark plugs today)
I also at 220,000k swaped my old motor for a 15k motor. nothing was wrong withthe old motor, just felt like going with less miles.
these cars are beast, they can handle alot. i'll tell you, i drive my car hard, and always have. im N/A, no boost.

nothing is lifetime in my book....so i just do it anyway and mine shifts fine too
Well...I have ~242,000 miles on my manuel 96 maxima. I have just had regular oil changes and the owner bfore me(my dad) babied it by only shifting at like 1500 to 2500 rpms. The only irritating problems are cv boot leaking, stock gears are in perfect shape. No rebuildson it...yet.
