whats up guys, i need help. last night when i was going home from work, cruising on the freeway, no more than about 65mph, when i pressed on the gas, i hear a loud clonking sound coming from the bottom of my car, more under the passenger side. I can even feel it.

when on the gas, its like clonk, clonk, clonk and the higher the rpm, at about 4k, it clonks and clonks at about about 4-5 clonks per second.
weird thing is it only does it when im in gear and on the gas, when on neutral, nothing, i rev up on neutral, nothing, only when im on the gas. anybody know?

i thought it might be my the axles, but if it was, the sound would always be there.

Sounds like the rubber boot on the axle has cracked? Better get on the floor with a flash light and check down there!

 

That sucks Peter, I mashed it getting on the freeway yesterday and blew out the hose connected to the egr valve...guys at the dealership said that I had to replace the valve too. When I asked 'em how does it just blow out, all they could say was that it must be old. It sounded like I was driving with no exhaust...so loud.

 

but if the rubber boot on the axle has cracked, dont you usually make that sound when you are turning? not crusing in a straight line.

 

that's the thing. it only makes the noise when im accelarating.
