Does Anyone Have a 4th Gen from Tochigi Plant?

Nissan's official specs document says that 4th gen Maximas (the doc I'm looking at is for MY 1999 specifically) were assembled at the Oppama and Tochigi, Japan plants.

(Here's how you can tell from your VIN)

Information courtesy Daniel B. Martin

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for 4th gen Maximas may be decoded as follows:

J (Country of manufacture, J = Japan)
N (Manufacturer identification, N = Nissan)
1 (Vehicle type, 1 = passenger vehicle)
C (Engine type = VQ30DE)
A (Vehicle line, A = Maxima)
2 (Model change)
1 (Body type = Sedan)
Position 8: (Restraint system: A = front and side air bags, D = front air bags only)
Position 9: (Check digit to verify accuracy of the VIN)
Position 10: (Model year: S = '95, T = '96, V = '97, W = '98, X = '99)
Position 11: (Manufacturing plant, T = Oppama, M = Tochigi)
Positions 12 to 16: (Vehicle serial number, first digit should be 1 or 3)
My '99 has a T in the 11th position so it was built in Oppama. I just checked the 10 or so VINs from when I was looking for my Maxima a year ago, and they all have a T there too.

So my question is, does ANYBODY have a 4th gen that was actually built in Tochigi? Thanks in advance for satisfying my curiosity.

Yeah, I just saw that site too. It's funny that Tochigi is even mentioned for the Maxima then...

M for me

My 1996 GLE has an M in 11th position. I bought it new in 1996 and it has 43,770 young miles on it.

All right, they're comin' out of the woodwork! Interesting. I wonder if it was an on-demand thing at the Tochigi plant if the Oppama was the main Maxima production plant. So far we have a '96, a '97, and a '98 from Tochigi so there's no pattern there.

Nice miles, sonola. Hope you're babying that thing.

I have a T, so built in Oppama; final assembly in Elizabeth, NJ.

Sonola...that's amazing that you have so few miles on it! I just hit 198,000 miles with my '96 on Sunday. Take care of her, you won't need a car for like 20 years at that rate.

New Jersey? Maybe for dealer-installed options, but otherwise I think the 4th gens came completely assembled from Japan. Correct me if I'm wrong.
