My 99 ECU not like the sticky picture

background
I own a 99 I30 bought new, sticker build date on door is 2/99, never repaired, got a check engine light this week. I read the sticky in 4th gen. forum

My ecu looks different. by drivers right foot area
about the same size, but the screw hole had no blade slot-
rather: a round hole, and on the edge of it (trying to explain) a sticker. imagine a clock face-an arrow goes from 6 o past 9:00 to 12:00 labelled idle speed adjust. 6:00 is labelled low, 12:00 is labelled high,
from 12:00 to about 3:00 the line and arrow are dotted and are labelled "self diagnosis"
Inside the clock face between the center and about 4 ;00 is a very small phillips head screw.
Why is this idle speed thing not shown in the 4th gen sticky?
and will moving the screw screw up the idle speed?Back to top

You should learn to read better. The 99 ecu is different and EVERYONE except you knows that. The idle speed screw is the ECU reset screw. Turn it all the way to the right, low rmp, all the way to the left normal rpm.

so, if you use the self diagnosis feature on the ecu (by turning the screw, you change the idle speed???
is that correct?

maybe I missed the mention if the idle speed in the sticky

where is any mention of the 99s being different - I have looked at a lot of posts and not seen it

seems putting it in a sticky would be one place to mention it

Same ecu that I have. Disregard the sticker, the screw has nothing to do with the idle. The procedure is same for obtaining the codes with this ecu. Use a small phillips screwdriver, the type for eyeglasses, to turn this screw. Is located downward and to the left of opening, so you have to insert screwdriver on an angle. Be gentle when turning, this screw is delicate and one can easily break the stopping points.
