fuel economy???

I just bought a first owner 1996 maxima gle with 140,000 miles. It in great condition and engine performs very well. But i only get about 15 mpg with a mix of highway and city driving. what are several things i can do to improve gas mileage. Any suggestions would be helpful.

My 95 at 165 was getting 15 mpg when I first bought it. I put plugs in didn't make much difference. Car seemed to run great to me. I pulled the codes and found one for the knock sensor and fuel trim. Replaced the knock sensor and O2 sensors(factory originals) and now I'm getting 21/22 with combination of city and highway driving.

I seem to get about 20mph, but I have a lead foot.

I am always driving hard whether in the TTz or the Max.

i know its a topic beat to death, but i just gotta vent this. 1 full tank of gas, 18.5 gallons, only lasted me 220 miles, an average of 11.89 mpg! i drive really hard though, so i just need to take it easy i guess... anyways, good luck with your econ probs.
